What type of gas do you think the TSX will require, Regular or Premium?

I am pretty sure they will equip the car with a knock sensor... Usually increased hp/displacement ratio means increased compression ratio, more chance of detonation with spark advance. IF it can take reg's they will strongly recommend premium fuel... The RSX 2.0 (Type S) with 200hp@7400 RPM has a 11.0:1 compression ratio which is getting up there, so you would probably be able to run reg pump gas, BUT the knock sensor will hear those pings and retard your timing... I know the Vette's say premium gas and they have 10.1-10.5

Here's from the RSX Spec's:
Fuel Economy
EPA estimated mileage, city/highway:
RSX (5-sp. manual): 27/33*
RSX (automatic): 24/33*
RSX Type S (6-sp. manual): 27/31*
Recommended Fuel for RSX - regular unleaded 87 octane
Recommended Fuel for RSX Type S - premium unleaded 91 octane**
*Use for comparison purposes only. California figures are the same. Your mileage may vary. Factory estimates; EPA figures not available at time of printing.
** Gasoline with an octane number lower than 91 may be used, with reduced performance.

I use 87 octane for my TSX @ $1.76 at Mobil or Phillips 66, but with reduced performance though. I used to use 89 octane for the car, but ppl told me 87 octane is fine, it wouldn't hurt the car. I hope its true cuz I save 25 cents using 87 octane.
I use 91 Octane with some fuel/octane booster/fuel injection cleaner additive my folks recommend me using :o . For my next tank, I’m going to put in regular fuel with that octane booster/fuel injection cleaner additive my folks keep pushing me to use and see if it actually does anything, because if you get any on your hands, it’s imposable to get the smell out.

Shell V-power (it is because they have a $2 per tank promotion a month ago)
Now, I am stuck with V-power.

I have used the 87 also 89 and half and half 91 and 89. The car felt a little sluggish with the lower octane when accelerating on the highway. I have gone back to 91 octane. Use Chevron most of the time - it has the Techron fuel injector cleaner mixed-in.
In my Integra I used to add a bottle of injector cleaner in half tank of gas every 5K miles as a preventative. No special brand whatever was on sale. It worked well for 9 years. I will do that same to the TSX. Dirty fuel injector not only robs power it also robs mpg.
The minimum recommended RON or octane rating on your vehicle should be strictly adhered. The recommendation ensures the engine performs at it's recommended specifications giving you exactly what it's designed to produce. There can be quite serious concerns when running the wrong RON or octane rating fuel which can lead to engine damage.
As mentioned above, the OEM ECU is intelligent enough to detect poor or good fuel. When poor fuel is detected, the ECU will retart the ignition timing and run rich. This will prevent engine detonation or knocking or pinging. It will continue to retart untill it detects better fuel and then slowly advance the timing. The more advance the timing on the engine specifications, the more power the engine will produce. This is an endless continuous cycle manufacturers have put in place to ensure vehicle operatiblity but this doesn't mean that it's performing at it's best.

^^^ Meaning, 91 octane or higher is to be used in the TSX
Why do people buy a sports sedan that requires premium fuel and costs nearly $30 grand, then complain about spending an extra 3 bucks at the pump to make it run right?

high octane definitely... the blurb earlier on predetonation and the anti-knock sensor was right on the money... you will definitely lose horsepower when the computer detects the knocks and retards the timing to counteract it.

Hi guys got back from my vacation 3k+ miles driven on the TSX. Normally use premium. Had a full tank, got 32+ mpg. I figured let's use regular. Felt some hesitation when I accelerate. Figured would get bad mpg but I was surprise got 32+ mpg also. Once I’m at my destination, I use premium. Going back same thing. All I can say if you don’t mind a little hesitation or sluggishness as you accelerrate use regular but I still stick with premium with my stop and go driving.

I wouldn't take the chance. Acura calls for premium and I always use premium. It is a high-performance engine after all. I'm afraid the engine would experience pinging over the longer term with regular. And I'm sure regular makes a bigger mileage difference in the city.

I use 91 Chevron.
I used 89 Chevron several times and found no pigging, better gas mileage (very minimal difference, could be due to other factors) but more importantly, same performance!
I still use 91, just to be on the safe side.
I fill up about 50 litres each fill-up. 91 is about $0.08 more than 89. That comes to about $4.00 each fill-up which is very negligible.
Better to be safe than sorry.

91 octane, or higher should be used in the TSX.

if you use below the suggested 91 octane..and you accidentally mention it to your dealership/shop...they'll refuse you warranty service if the problem is at all linked to the type of gas you're using...
Keep a bottle of octane boost from a reputable manufacturer in your trunk and use it when you cannot find the required minimal recommended RON rating to "make-up" for the required fuel. This is a band-aid temporary solution but it's better than not having any help.
Refer to my remarks above about using wrong fuel if you're unsure about what it does, what it can do and what sort of effects it may have either in a short term or long term basis. Compromising the minimal factory fuel standards is the quickest way to having a premature failure in any make/model.

Down here in Australia I use 95 Octane Shell Premium, it runs really nice on this Petrol/(gas for your Americans ;) ) I have found if I go over to Mobil's Premium fuel I actually get less fuel efficiency and power so I am sticking with Shell :)

All difference aside, here is what expert say about the grade of fuel and the effect, i guess this will clear up the confiusion.

Good find by a legitimate source.
So basically what I got out of it was.
Performance difference can be up to 5% worse on a Premium designed engine.
Premium on regular designed engines is nearly a waste (not noticeable performance gain).
If you are knocking, long term knocking can cause damage to your engine.
