I wonder how it will compare with the CBS miniseries that was on a few years ago. That was the story about how Hitler rose to power. IIRC, it was banned in Texas for fear that some people would watch it and think:
"you know what? For being a psychotic mass murderer, he had some good governmental philosophies".........or maybe "ya ner wut? That Germun dude with the silly lip haaaar made sum cense" *followedbytobaccospit"
Ludefahrer, who's apologizing up front to all the members from Texas.

Reminiscent of what Marge Schott said: "He was good in the beginning, but he went too far."

Exactly. He did turn the German economy around.......but that was because he started all the munitions factories! :thumbsdow

Wasn't there an email that's gone around that was titled something like "which leader would you choose?". It described 3 people, for example:
1) womanizer, drinker, :russ:
2) smoked, gambled, :russ:
3) what is quoted above
And then you are supposed to be surprised when the one you pick is Hitler. I think the other two were Winston Churchill and FDR. Anyone else read that or know what I'm talking about?
or am I just :tard: ?

Well, which would have been which? Not that I know the intimate histories of those two, but I wouldn't have thought either of them fit #1.
BTW I didn't mean what my last post said -- I was just quoting that fat lady.

I can't remember exactly how the email was worded. I wish I could because it was a little scary. I just know that the 3rd description made the person out to be a saint, but yet it was Hitler.
Dennis, who knows Larch was only quoting Large Marge.

Did you invent that, or was it a standard nick?

Also, he was deeply committed to animal rights, he loved his dogs, apparently far more deeply than he cared for many groups of humans. He embraced a lot of social programs that today's Socialists still embrace. I remember a poll of Germans from a few years ago where a majority of living Germans thought he had "a lot of good ideas", except for "that thing with the Jews" and that he "lost WW-II". (Not that he started it! That he lost it!)
(See, just a couple of mistakes could sully the legacy of a nation's leader even back then!)

I actually borrowed it from a movie starring Pee Wee Herman. I think it was "Pee Wee's Big Adventure". There was a scene where he get's a ride from a woman truck driver who was nicknamed "Large Marge". It's just one of those things that stuck in my head. :rolling_e

That could start a whole new debate on how people think that Hitler was the reason they lost the war. The scary thing is, I have had a few college history professors that are convinced, that if the assasination plot on Hitler had succeeded, and Rommel took over, all of Europe would be Deutsche sprechen right now. But like I said, that's a whole other debate........but that might be fun and interesting debate. *ponders new thread idea* The only thing is one must truly be educated on the events of WWII to enter a valid arguement.

When I lived in Germany I saw Hitler's Bunker and he had a bunker made for his dogs.
