But seriously, folks, this is a tough one. Yes, it seems pretty obvious that we can't afford too many "Iraqs," financially and otherwise, even if they're justified and even if we fight them well -- even before we get to the moral and human questions. But we don't want to just let it all happen either.

Israel also says it will do "everything it can" to keep Iran from having nukes. Maybe that's the form it would take -- Israel doing another one of those things like it did in 1981 on the Iraqi nuclear reactor, which was condemned at the time but for which we should be eternally grateful. Israel doing it, with semi-open support from the U.S. and (would you believe) other countries too.

Anyway.....fortunately, the story emphasizes taking other measures besides force -- like sanctions.
