View Full Version : PIAA Tera LED Park Lights (White)
PIAA Japan has just released a new 1W power rated LED that is 12 times more powerful and brighter than it's original LED series. This raises automotive lighting to higher standards with stronger light emissions and reduced power consumption with a designated lifetime of approximately 5-6 years. Not bad for a product with an approximate RRP USD$50+ ~ $60+ for a set.

Can this be used for back-up lights ?
I'd do anything to get brighter back-up.
Back-up lights? Where are the back-up lights located? Sorry, term definition not familiar ...

they are in the spots where your fog lights are.. Inner portion of the tail lights farthest from the fender
Oh do you mean rear reverse lights? If so, there are brighter applications using conventional bulbs ... Blue coated/white light emitted bulbs from Raybirg will increase visiblity by 100% at least. I'm currently using them.

hey 228, where in van did u buy them from?
..and how much?
m...i bought it @ parker place........my bulb is not look like that....but it's reli bright...
i think it's HYBIRD....japanese brand
it's like 20bux.....about.....not sure.....i got to check with my bro coz my bro it to me...i will let u know later....
Very impressive product from PIAA. Each LED comes with it's own individual ballast that needs to be wired for power. This light output is pure white, very similar to HID headlights with no faint of any yellowish accent. This is indeed significantly brighter than any replacement park light bulbs or LEDs I've ever seen. After all, I don't think any manufacturer has made ballast powered LEDs except PIAA.

Noel, what about all these, are they all 168 bulbs type?
anyone have their parts number??
2 of them are 18X brighter, but some of them (or all of them) need to use the resistor, so will they all fit after install the resistor (or they already build-in the resistor) ?

I just got finished installing the Wide Angle Superstar w/ Heatsink': 1 LED, from autolumination for my license plate lights.... they look awesome! They are only $7.99 each, so you need two of them.
They plug right in, no need for any mod's etc. Night and day difference over stock. Very bright white. They also have them in other colors etc, but for license plate, white is the only way to go.
These same LED's are what I used for my door lights, again they plug right in, and are very bright and give off a very wide spectrum of bright white light.
If anybody's interested, all you need is 4 total, 2 for the license plate lights, and 2 for the doors, and they look sweet.

It's ironic that you guys are actually improving bulbs for a license plate :). If I were to do anything with them I'd actually want to make the illumination worse, to stay less conspicuous :grinno: - don't need cops and other ppl to actually notice my license plate. Besides, NJ plates are yellow, so even if I upgrade to pure white light, it'll still show a yellow plate, so there's really no improvement from stock yellowish light.

I don't have any of the license plate light pictures right now, but here is a stock photo from autolumination...showing the led I used.... LOOK how bright it is... I'm telling ya, it looks awesome as a license plate light, and easy very easy to install, once you understand how you the bulb housing is setup, very easy to pull out, and pop in this one.

BlueTSX05

that I'm not sure of. was the install for the license plate lights just a plug and play, did the new lights fit in there good?

you mean the headlight corner bulbs? yeah, you can get to them from the rear of a headlight. Kind of tight to fit your hand in there, but i managed it, so you should too.

Do you have to take off the bumper to do this? Do you know of any DIY for this, hint hint, maybe you can right something up quick ;-)
Peregrine
02-24-2007, 09:55 PM
lol, no you don't. So here's your quick DIY: open your hood, find the bulb in the rear of the headlight, on its far side near the inner fender. Stick you hand in there, unplug it, and turn the bulb base to remove it from the housing.
BTW, James, since I just remembered, can you leave me feedback on ebay?
thanks

can you change the inner bulb as well? the one inbetween the high beam and low beam, do you think there would be any advantage to upping the watts in there or going to an LED in the lens?
Peregrine
02-24-2007, 10:00 PM
guys, do you ever read your manuals... lol, of course you can change all the bulbs from the rear of every light in almost every car. Are you talking about a bulb for your turn signal? I don't see any advantage of upping it to a higher illumination, but yes, you can change it from the rear. Just open the hood and look at the back of the headlight.

Yeah these are totally different, they plug right in. The other ones for the map lights and dome lights are the kind that have to be in on both sides, and the led comes from the middle, where as these just plug in, and the side that sticks out is the LED. Perfect fit.
