My TSX has a momentary engine bog when shifting from 1st to 2nd at high rpms - with or w/o traction control on. Does anyone else experience this and what can be done to eliminate this condition. Thanks, Dave

I've never heard of this. I'd take it back to the dealer and see what they think.

I heard the temp bog is caused by "drive by wire" accelerator.
Not very happy with this. Does anyone know of a fix? Dave

Are you hitting the rev limiter when shifting? The drive-by-wire accelerator is actually supposed to improve throttle response.

You mention that it occurs when shifting from first to second gear... does the bog occur right after you disengage the clutch (let it out) and step on the gas?

bog occurs when shifting from 1st to 2nd at 6500 rpms -as soon as clutch is engaged - engine bogs or bucks

Well, if it is happening when the clutch is engaged, then it is not the throttle, as you should not be engaging the clutch and hitting the gas at the same time while upshifting.
Have you taken it back to the dealer?

i have this problem too it is the gearing....either the 1st gear is too short or 2nd is too tall it just isnt a smooth transition while tryin to accelerate hard...thinkin of switchin to an RSX type S tranny if it will fit

Does it bog, or overrev? Could be the modern IACV feature.... if the IACV is overrevving the engine between shifts you could be hitting the rev limiter AFTER youve shifted which could lead to a bogging of sorts when you get back into gear. Try shifting sooner in the RPM range, or slowing your shift down a bit.

A quick shift into 2nd after hitting redline will bring the cars RPM down to a halting midrange. You guys arent bad drivers, its the gearing. I know I hate it too, but optimal gear changes can be done by feathering the clutch in between shifts to raise the rpms a little.

HEY GUYS I AM NOT PUTTING ANY ONE DOWN BUT WE HAVE FOUND THAT WHEN A CUST COMPLAINS OF A BOG IT IS USUALLY WHEN THEY SHIFT.IF YOU SHIFT TO EARLY IN THE RPM RANGE THE CAR BOGS IF YOU GET BACK IN THE THROTTLE TO EARLY IN THE HIGHER RPM IT WILL ALSO BOG. JUST TO BE SAFE I WOULD TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER JUST TO MAKE SURE.

I THINK I HAVE THE ANSWER!!!
1st gear on the TSX is too short. Normally... redlining say a Civic Si (b16) in first gear, 2nd falls right at the VTEC changeover point. So theres a constant pull after gear changes. However, the RPMS on the TSX falls way below the 6,000 RPM VTEC changeover point which accounts for the "BOG" that you feel. It feels like theres a slight or momentary "loss" of power between 1st and 2nd. But as the revs begin to rise again in 2nd gear... your back in business. I've noticed this alot with my car... theres really nothing we can do about it. Except maybe engine mods or RSX TypeS tranny swap.
