Let's have a poll for adding a spoiler on your TSX or not. I just got my car, and thinking should I add one. It's pretty expensive for the spoiler.

A big "no" for me:
- too expensive
- looks only so-so
- doesn't DO much below 100 mph
- two stolen off my last car

Actually, I'd be surprised if the spoiler from Acura did anything at any speed. Spoilers on most street cars are made more for looks than anything else.
I wasn't thrilled about the spoiler either. Then the car that I wanted already had it installed on it. Now that I have lived with it for about a month, I wouldn't take it any other way!

the subtle "lip" type would look better than the OEM ones.

Yeah I like the lip spoiler better. I think a bigger one than on the M3/M5/S4 would look better though. I definitely don't like the wing....it makes a low slung car look like an off roader...to me anyway.

If I can figure out how to upload pix, I could post a few of the rear spoilers that they have in Japan.
The JDM front skirt and fog lights look much better than the NA OEMs. I'm asking a friend in Japan to look into getting me the Euro-R pedal pack...they look awesome, and since they are OEM, they should fit like a glove.

I personally like the OEM one. That's why I got it. I didn't buy it for performance purposes but more for looks.

Which one did you get? The stock one makes a lot of sense, matches the car, etc. Please don't harm all of us by turning your car into a 8 foot winged circus.

IMO the only thing a spoiler spoils is how the car looks. :D
Unless it's the Milano Red. That car sorta needs the rear spoiler.

I have the OEM spoiler. Aerodynamically, it does nothing except add a bit of drag to reduce the mileage. I got it because of the LED brake light and it makes backing up a bit easier since it shows were the back corners of the car are. I'm indifferent to the way it looks. To me it looks okay, but I think the car looks fine w/o it too.
The logic is unusual, but there was no negatives to the spoiler (in my eyes) and a few functional (albeit minor) advantages, I went ahead and got it.

I never thought of that, and never would have known it. That's enough to make me think of getting a spoiler.
Well, for half a second anyway.

Yeah, I think it looks better on my Milano Red, but certainly isn't for performance. I like that the stop light is brighter than the standard, which really helps reduce the chance that people won't see you break. I do also like that it helps with knowing the rear dimensions when backing up, as kitebiy mentioned.

Actually, that's why my mom got a spoiler put on her Camry... to help her when she's backing up. All her friends tell her she got it to make it look sporty. Heh.

oh, yeah, I got it because I like how it looks, primarily.

I have a lip spoiler in my trunk waiting to spontaneously become painted. The OEM one looks ok, but I like the lip look better myself.

i dont think im sold on a spoiler for the following reasons:
1) just cause it looks nice shouldnt be the reason to get one ebcause as kiteboy said it might have a negative effect
2) i think the tsx looks great without it anyway

Yeah, well, if you aren't a fan, you're not a fan. :D As for negative impact on the car, it's negligable, if any. If you're worried about that amount of difference, this isn't the right car for you. :)

i disagree, i love the car, but i just feel that every bit of negative impact must be taken into acount.
plus, i actually think a spoiler looks pretty good on the TSX, but i just like the stock back more

What I'm saying is that if you care about a millisecond of track time difference that the spoiler could make, get a WRX STi instead.

At the track, a spoiler will make a difference (keeping the back end down to maintain traction). However, I question whether spoilers (especially aftermarket ones) on most cars would actually do anything except create drag at high speeds.

Yep. From the angle of the spoiler, I'd guess that it makes a slight increase in downforce at high wind speed from the front (usually this of course is you driving fast). However, it mostly follows the car angle so it shouldn't create too much drag. I think realistically the weight might have more difference than the air effects.

I have an OEM spoiler on my TSX and I like it.
Just ordered my rear spoiler today and looking forward to the install soon. Just wondered if anyone who has the spoiler can report on rearward visibility?
Does the rear spoiler making backing up any easier, does it help locate where the rear end is?
Thanks

It helps a little I suppose.

I added a spoiler on mine..for two reasons..
1. cause I think it looks great with it
2. so I can see where my rear end is when reversing. I have a lazy eye so my depth perception isn't all that great and lemme tell ya, the spoiler works great!!

I do think it makes a big difference in stop visibility. It's bigger and brighter than the rear deck mounted light and could make the difference between a rearending and a near miss.

Not to mention that it's an LED which activates 0.1s faster. That's an extra 10ft of stopping room for the guy behind at highway speeds.

Good point! Also, the location is just plain more visible on the edge of the car instead of inside a window (you know some of you have dirty rear windows)
