just wondering how good the tape is on those lip spoilers, either the m3/phase/etc... do they all use double sided tape? if some guy comes by and pulls on the spoiler will it rip off just the lip/tape? or will the paint come w/ the spoiler?

questions questions and more..questions =)

I just got mine too, and i've been asking around, you can go to the body sjops, and they have a special type of automotive body adheisive tape, but they'll ask you ask you if you are taking it on the track, cuz if you go over 180km/h spoiler will come rite off, so what tehy do for lip soilers in drill a thin hole, and achor it down with high strength cable

The 3M automotive / commercial double sided tape (black/dark grey color) is very strong, you can't just rip it off and neither will it fly off at high speeds when applied and installed correctly. But the spoilers would generally be drilled on ends and secured with screws for added protection / safety. The majority of OEM manufacturers and even tuning companies use this method of installing their spoilers with no problems.

i did 220km with Phase spoiler with double sided tape only
no problems at all .. ~ it will hardly come out .. ~ the tape is crazy strong .. ~

i'd rather drill, just hope they do a good job or else holes in trunk =(

The should use some kind of marking position, generally with a few masking tape at different position to mark a spot to drill. Don't worry if it's done by a professional, it shouldn't have any problems. Even drilled spoilers use double sided tape for added strength.

depends, shops will ask you what you going to use it for, cuz if all you do is just on the street, they'll just stick it on, but yeah i've seen ome lip poilers come off before it's halarious!

Do u guys a slight gap between the spoiler and the trunk and you stick the spoiler on?

I do...its like the 3M tape(3M commercial heavy duty double-sided tape) is a bit too thick..... i had an OEM M3 spoiler on my BMW, but had no gap. Its cuz the replica spoiler on the bottom is flat where as the OEM had a little groove to place the tape on.

Just wanted 2 see if any of you with the replicas have the same problem...perhaps im using the wrong tape

yes ... with replica M3 spoiler u will get a gap between the spoiler and the trunk for sure .. ~
that's another reason y i sold my M3 replica to get the Phase one .. ~
Phase is perfect fitment .. ~

3m double adhesive tape will hold fine. I have the strongest kind on, that u can get just about anywhere that sells hardware....its been through rain, heat, snow, and no sign of budging, my brothers on his BMW has been on for 3 years ~ now with no problem.

I went flat-out with my Accord Type-s which is about 230 km/h several times with no problems at all. The tape is extremely strong, so dont worry about it flying of the car at high speeds

Come on guys...the spoiler wont fly off...

Its on a BMW M3 and the M5 which has alot more hp and higher speed limiter than the TSX ...... and yet they just stick it on with the same double-sided tape. Using screws is not at all necessary unless you really want to punch holes into your trunk...

how much is the M3 lip?
i think u can get it for around 50USD on eBay .. ~
+ all of the tax , exchange rate and stuff .. ~ then it will be around 100
then u have to spend another 80 bux or so for the paint job ..
so total should be under 200CAD ~ sthing like that .. ~

WOw...... thats not that bad.... because I like spoilers, but so far, I think only the M3 and Mugen spolier looks good..... those GT wing things are....too over the top...

Do you know if there is going to be more spoliers coming out soon?

But how messy is it to take that tape off tho? Once it is applied to the trunk? I don't want to leave any nasty marks behind~

well .. ~ it's not that hard .. ~
it took me abt 30 mins to clean it up ... and the surface is good as new ~
if u do it properly with proper cleaner .. it wont make marks .. ~
