As in...do cars built in Japan have higher quality than cars built in North America? So that means the MDX/Odyssey/Pilot would be built in North America. Where is the TSX built anyway? For the record, I think Jap built cars do have better quality.

Ok, quality of GM, Ford and Chrysler don't compare, even Lincolns or Caddys. That's my opinion, but my experience is that the internal components are nicer in Jap or Euro, though the U.S. cars have more power....Original Dodge Viper is a good example of the lack of handling missile.....Now I will take a Moller MT9000 or a Saleen S7

Define "quality". Do you mean build quality (i.e. parts fit together evenly), quality of parts (i.e. high-end parts) or reliability?

I think it's not where the car is made, but rather the company itself and the importance it puts on quality.

Historically, Japanese companies have been putting a higher priority on build-quality. In recent years, American companies have realized this and have started to do the same.

I mean more reliability but also a little build quality. The reason I ask is because I notice cars built in the USA tend to have more problems. For instance, M-Class's built in the USA have major problems, while the ones built in Graz seem to be perfect. Same with Odyssey, Accord, Civic, and Sienna too I think. The exceptions I can think of might be the MDX/Pilot and the Z3/Z4/X5.

The Accord here in the US is only made in Ohio (so there's nothing to compare it to), and it is considered one of the most reliable cars on the market. The Acura TL is built in Ohio as well, and the Honda Odyssey is built in the US and Canada. Both vehicles are considered very reliable.

The same goes for the Toyota Camry which is built in Kentucky... a very reliable car.

Again, I don't think it's the country as much as it is the company, and their emphasis on quality. Ever since Mercedes and Chrysler merged, Mercedes' quality has gone down.

Curiously, if you look on eBay (I think that's where I saw em) there are a lot of 1994-1997 accords made in Japan in Texas and Florida. Don't ask me why, I find only about 1 in 50 ads in SF for the Accord are made in Jap Accords. Also, my dad has a 1997 Camry, made in Japan.

Are you talking American-made or from an American company? Hondas are American-made.

I'd rather keep the money in the US's economy, but there is nothing that compares to the TSX in the American market, so I cracked ssssssss2

You dug up a really old thread. But how do you comprehend keeping money in the US economy when buying Honda or Acura ultimately goes into the Japanese profit economy cycle?

:sprint:

Actually I cracked a long time ago, but for the same reason.

At this point, it would probably take a lot to crack me back.

Oh, my gawd, I get so tired of hearing this same trite, hackneyed, unintelligent, undiscriminating, uninformed, closed-minded, idiotic, self-righteously ignorant blather spouted by people like that.

Anyone who likes or dislikes a car based purely on it's country of origin is a fool.

[edit] Let me put it this way: I lost the use of my $27,000 TSX for three days on two separate repair trips to the dealer, within the first month of ownership. My $13,000 Neon made it through 4 hard-driven years and almost 60,000 miles before it needed a day out of service.

Another reason why I picked the TSX over TL.
