How are you connected to the Net outside of work ?
Cable ?
DSL ?
56K ?

Until couple weeks ago, I successfully resisted for several years having broadband at home as I wanted to avoid the computer after work.
That's why I rarely posted after 5 or 6 pm or on weekends.

Now this cable "package" had defeated my resistance.

Cable and I can pick up a neighbors wireless signal if I need a back up source (on it now for the heck of it). I encrypt my signal. ;)

I did this too when I lived in Aurora, IL....my neighbor had a wireless signal and I just placed my desk and computer against the wall facing his house and I got instant signal....no need to pay for ghey comcast internet service!

Rob, if you're on Optimum Online through Cablevision, you're on one of the best broadband networks in the country. I had it when I was in Norwalk and Greenwich and it rocked. Now I'm on Road Runner and it sux...down a lot and spotty bandwith problems. Read more about Optimum Online here: http://www.dslreports.com/comment/1577/41034

EDIT: Their customer support is probably the only thing that is lacking sometimes.

yup I had OOL years ago in Norwalk when it first came out.
Now I'm in Ridgefield served by Comcast.
My relative in Norwalk is on OOL.
With FireFox's "Bandwith Tester" extension - it shows OOL faster than Comcast.

What speed do you guys have? I newley uppgraded from 56k to Dsl 24Mbit's.
And i can tell you thats one heck of a speed change. :D

It's a minor uppgrade in the size of 12 000 percent if i'm not counting wrong.

Is that VHDSL? I'm pretty sure ADSL-G tops out at 8 Mbps down.

That's the great thing about Europe's broadband - they either suck (like in England) or they really, really rock (like in the northern countries).

That's Adsl. The limit used to be 8Mbits but when the big companies started selling Vhsl they didn't get the result that they wanted so they boosted the Adsl to 24Mbits. The down side is the down speed that's only 1Mbit.
The fastest speed avalible for a private person is 100Mbits down and 100Mbits up but that's expensive as hell.
