HELLO ALL

some of you may know this already, but i'd thought i'd like to share a issue which i consider a little troublesome.

cleaning the car awhile ago,i moved the driver's seat up and forward to vac
under it and pick up change etc etc..........

to my surprise,i noticed that the wiring harness that supplies power to the driver's seat was rubbing way !!!! (poorly positioned harness in my opinion)

the seat frame had already rubbed through the wire loom and was working it's way through the wire casing itself!!!
just a matter of time before the bare wires are exposed.

(as i so rarely move the seat, puzzles me more)

i have already notified the NHTSA (complaint is on their site)

i have read alot of posts where owner's were complaing of mysterious "burning" smell (s) coming from the driver's seat and related area.....

not that what i have mentioned may be the cause, but won't hurt to check it out soon anyway!

cheers all
CM

P.S.

i did take a quick digital pick,so if interested,e-mail me and i'll send you a copy.

hello

something to keep a eye on for sure, regardless of car's age.....

(the fix is easy.simply re-position the harness and use wire ties to secure it elsewhere)

although this should not be the owner's responsibility.

i have read a few posts on this forum and other forum's in regards to the driver's seat area starting to "smoke" and "burn" ......
(that and the never ending saga of the seat's moving by themselves under hard braking) re: ongoing posts

one guy that posted was on his way to the dealer for a oil change, and his seat burst into flames (car was write off)

*note: seat heaters can fry in a second if "on" and fluid spilled on seat (always a possibility as well) ....

(probably could have been the most expensive 7-11 big gulp yet....lol)
