View Full Version : Another brake problem *update jun 14*
i have a 2005 auto TSX and i have had it for less than 3 weeks with about 1000k on it, since about 2 days ago, i realize that my brakes is acting weird, not that it doesn't stop the car when i need it to, its just when i step on the brakes, whether i light it tap it or step on it with a little more force, it made a werid noise (like phhhh, phhhh, phhhh) every single time, it sounds like as if i am stepping onto a inflation pump :madfawk:
has anyone had problem similar to this? or does anyone know what's the problem and how to fix it?
im planning to take it into Acura next week if it still occurs, i have no time this week =(
thx

sounds like air in the brake pumps, had this problem on a rental Toyota Camry a few years back. Its not major, just annoying when applying the brakes. When you goto the dealer definitely have them fix it.

thats normal. if that is the sound i am thinking.
its just the atmospheric pressure. going into the brake booster valve.(forgot whats it is called)..:(
its just that the brake booster has negative pressure(vacuum), everytime you step the brakes. air(atmospheric pressure) just goes into that chamber.
so i took my car into the dealership yesterday *finally* to fix these noises. unfortunately I had a indian guy :nutkick: with a accent which was tough to understand what he was talking about when I asked him what the problem was. All I could understand was that it was a minor problem and they fixed it. HOWEVER :squint: , on the way home, those noises not only were still there and still very obvious, now even with my radio/cd on, i can hear hear...so in other words it got louder. my buddy's opinion was that becuz is still new (1 month old 2 days ago with only 2K) with "over-moisture" and also there might be air bubbles with the brakelines.
does anyone else from Toronto and anyone else has this problem? or anyone have a more thorough analysis of this problem......cuz this is irritating...

I have this air hissing sound whenever i apply the brakes, and my service advisor told me it was normal. i don't know if that's the same sound as you are hearing, but i don't notice increase stopping distance.
btw, i went to North Toronto Acura to have my car checked last time.
i got mine checked at Acura in Markham.....
does ur noise sound like as if u r stepping on a pump?

Air in the brake lines would cause your brake pedal to sink to the floor and not be able to stop. your pedal would feel super soft without any slowing down of the car.

I'm not too sure what you mean by stepping on a pump. When i apply the brakes, i would get that air sucking noise, but the feel of the pedal does not feel soft, as described by Stoptech above.
However, compare to my previous car (99 Prelude), the brake pedal on the TSX does feel 'softer'.

I have the same sound, sounds like you're stepping on a broken footpump. Mine's been like that since new, and so far hasn't affected my braking ability.
mine is new too...still hasn't been 2 months, and yes it doens't affect my braking ability, but its annoying....u think dealership will fix it??
cuz i took it to them once...nothing was done, and i was in a rush so i didn't bug them

With my experience with the dealers, if the problem isn't big enough to drive you crazy, they will fix it so that it will. LOL. My door just had a vibration when I sent it in to be fixed. Now it is a rattle! The rattle started about 2 weeks after being fixed.
If I were you, I wouldn't send it in. Because in 100% condition the pedal sounds like that. How can they repair it to 110% condition? Remember, they are DEALER technicians, not Acura/Honda technicians from Acura Honda Motor Company.
good point LOL....i guess i just have to keep my cd player at a minimum of 8-10 deg so that it covers the pedal noises

Why are you complaining about that noise?, everyone has the same brake system and everyone hears the sound, so far no one complaints about it. If you want a quiet car why dont you get a MB for $80k and then you wont hear any noises.

cuz a new car shouldn't have noises like that....even if u get a KIA or DAEWOO
and plus, MB can go as cheap as 40K and it has its own annoying problems...

But the sounds you're hearing are within specs. and are considered normal.

I have a problem with my brakes, but I think my cause is the rotors are warped. At high speeds when pressing the brake pedal, u can feel the brakes shudder. Car has about 10k on the car.
