Does anyone have problems starting their TSX on occasion?

I noticed, occasionally, I can turn the key and the starter will turn but not catch, even if I hold for @ 6 -8 sec.

I noticed this first right after the dealer programmed another key into the computer. At that time I had the car for about 2 weeks, and I have not had a single mis-start before. Also, few days before I took the car to the dealer, I installed an alarm in it, and while doing that I was occasionally disconnecting the battery. Few days later when I took the car for state inspection it failed because they said they couldn't see enough emmissions history. They told me that's because I had the battery disconnected. So they said I had to drive the car for a week and come back. I did that and a week later my car passed the inspection. During that week, the car still, on occasion, would not start the first time. This happened very rarely for me, but it would be common for my wife or a parking attendant. That guy had to try start it about 3 times, every time, before it finally cought! But with time I noticed that this stopped and the car was starting fine every time. Until I took it for State re-inspection a week and a half later. Right after that I had a single mis-start again. And then I had few more over the next few days.

Is this something like the computer tweaking itself every time after it's accessed? Or is this I should let the dealer check?

i would let the dealer check it, just so you can sleep better at night....

Do you have a fuel cutoff circuit on your alarm system? Could it be possible that might be the culprit?

No, I have an ignition circuit cut-off on the alarm, which means the car would not crank at all. That has nothing to do with it. I'm thinking maybe the transponder protection is the culprit. I had to add a PKH-3 unit to allow remote starting. All was working fine until I took the car back to the dealer where they had to program another key in ('cause the previous m***** f***** owner didn't care to return both sets). They couldn't get into the computer to program the new key because of the PKH-3 unit, so I had to disconnect and bypass it for them. Then they were able to program the key in, and all works, but sometimes it just doesn't want to start...

All right, I solved the problem. It turns out the input terminal for the PKH-3 (responsible for bypassing transponder circuit for remote starting) had continuous ground on it. That kept the PKH-3 active all the time, in result bypassing and confusing the factory transponder circuit. The continuous ground was coming from the "start" wire, through an ignition cut-off relay, because I used the same alarm output wire to activate antigrind and PKH-3. So to resolve that, I just had to put a diode on the input wire of the relay, so it wouldn't be backfeeding any ground to PKH-3, and the problem was solved.
Also, I just noticed this recently, but when I had that problem before, the green key indicator on the dashboard would not show at all, and that was a dead giveaway that something is wrong with that circuit. Now that I added the extra diode, everything is working fine. The green key indicator shows for about 2 sec. when the ignition is turned on, and it blinks when it's turned off.

Hey, I'm having the same problem with my TSX. I just got it two weeks ago. I don't have an alarm system in it other than the factory one. I was told by the dealer that the security system in it cuts off the gas in it. And when it's hot, gas evaporates from the line and that is why it does not start up right away. I don't know much about mechanics but I waw wondering if you can point me to a site or someone who could help me with this issue. This car is alot of fun to drive but, this starting problem is becoming a pain in the rear.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. :ikno:

HELLO

ACURA advises NOT to put ANY aftermarket alarms or auto-starts in ANY of their vehicles!!!!

(no system can be PROPERLY installed unless the installing tech/person has the factory code book and electrical tech manual).....

hope all works out!
