I'd like to get an Artic Blue, 6sp with fogs and tinted glass...
:D
Shure hope will get it in canada. I'd like to replace my 2002 1.8T Jetta but the 1.7EL is not powerful enough and the TL is too $$$ and the RSX is only a two door...
Some rumors (auto123.com in french...) say that it might not get to canada...

There are tons of hondas running around in this color, but I just couldn't help myself when I ordered. I have had two black vehicles and a white one. While the black is definitely better looking when it's clean, keeping it that way is the problem. I currently drive a 2001 Toyota Tacoma 4dr and even when it's filthy, that white does not show it. I think the same way with the silver. I know I'm being lazy, but after two consecutive black vehicles I just couldn't bring myself to order another dark color... not matter how fine it is! (ie. edechamplain's blue which will look amazing!)

I bought a 2002 accord v6 in august of '02 and totally raped the dealer! Got it out the dooe for $21.5k, EX-V6 leather 6disc indash cd etc... when I saw the '03 accord I was kicking myself in the ass thinking about the changes... well under the advice of the dealer they said to wait a few months before trading in to pay the financing down a bit... GOOD THINGS HAPPEN TO THOSE WHO WAIT!!! I owuld have been stuck with an '03 accord and drooling over the tsx with it's shiftronic 5spd (which gets better gas mileage than the 6spd manual)
Just a little more waiting!

I defintley am getting one, it's a matter of when
I'm thinking december 04 :( The wait bewteen april and december might kill me, but it just makes sense for me cuz I graudate from college in March or June.. and it will give me some time to get settled with the job etc. Plus I have a 14year old sister who in december 04 will be 16 and you know she'll be needing a car, so i will have someone to pass the current accord on to by then...
I'm pretty sure I want Carbon Gray, not sure on the tranny just yet... leaning towards manual cuz driving auto jsut isn't the same... :( but that might change after i test drive the shiftronic
Don't know about details yet for sure either.. like leather and navi... i know i don't wanna spoiler... :p

Hi all.
My '01 CL-S lease is up in September. I am most likely buying my next car.
My considerations:
1. TSX (coming from the 260hp Type S) the 4cyl TSX might be disappointing. Acura quality and all the features that I have on my CL makes this car appealing.
2. Mazda 6s - on the car and driver top 10 list. Rave reviews everywhere. Not sure of Mazda quality/resell value.
3. Altima 3.5SE - Powerful, stylish but the "cheap" interior reviews are a bit of a turn-off. No "steptronic" auto transmission.
4. Accord Coupe - hmmmmmmm
5. '04 Maxima/TL - might be just beyond how much I want to spend. Might come down to how I feel the day I'm at the dealership. These cars would have to absolutely WOW me in order to put a larger downpayment.
Comments on any of the above? Fire away boys!

none of the cars you listed will not match CL's comfort or power well with the acception of the maxima
if i had to choose i would go with the Honda/Acura brand

Good luck to me but I am waiting for the wagon to come over here. I saw the pics for the wagon and it would be exactly what I would need. So it will be awhile.... It will probably come over a year or so after the introduction. Similar to the IS300 and BMW 3 series.

Can't really afford to put the deposit down now and I'm really waiting to see the Type-S in December. Until then I'm leaning towards the Carbon Grey 6-spd manual without navi. Future mods will include 17" 6or7 spoke gun metal/black rims, fog lights, OEM front and rear lips, some grill work to remove the chrome, some rebadging, some black housing headlight conversions w/ angel eyes, and minor window tinting. I won't mention nothing about perfromance but will have to wait a year or so to see aftermarket products. ;) Was almost at the dealer a few months ago putting down a deposit for the 2003 accord V6- EX coupe w/ 6spd, but am willing to wait till december. :o

Trying to build a TSX that looks like the Euro-R in my avatar except with gun metal/black rims. I've owned both white and black cars and think the carbon grey fits nicely between the two.
hondafreak4eva- nice pic of the columbus skyline and of your clean accord. I graduated from OSU one year to early. Go Buckeyes! I think the Type-S is definitely worth the wait. From the rumors, an all motor 4-banger pumping out ~240-250hp that is as nice of a 4 banger fitted on the S2000. I don't think the Type-S could hit 60 from standstill in 6 secongds but it won't be far off. If I'm not mistaken the S2000 won 4 banger of the year two years in a row, so maybe the TSX Type-S is will try and flex its muscles as well.
Are we gonna pay MSRP or what?
no one really pays msrp most of the time they bring the price down by few hundred anyways ;)

Aside from the 2dr/4dr preference, why would someone choose a 200hp TSX over something like the 240hp Accord Coupe? A EX Coupe with Leather and AT should match the price of the TSX.

Why would you get the TSX vs the Accord? Much better looks. The Accord's rear end is hideous and way out of proportion. The TSX in comparison is very tasteful.

Good question, which I have been debating for a while now.
1. The exterior of the TSX looks much better than the new accord EX V6 Coupe- I personally like the E-Class looking tail lights on the Accord.
2. The interior of the cars is very comparable, but the TSX looks like a near luxury as opposed to the accords wanna be luxury look
3. The handling of the TSX, I believe will be more responsive and have less roll than the Accord- Otherwise they played it real smart with the double wishbone and multi link in the rear with both cars. Otherwise suspension and braking are comparable.
4. The gas milage I believe is 29 for Accord and 31 for TSX on the highway.
5. The test drive was nicer for the TSX.
6. Lastly would you rather do a low seven seconds for 0-60 in a
V6 or an I4?
Otherwise both are hot accords!
lovemyaccord
03-11-2003, 03:01 PM
I was reading a old post written by tsxclub and the performance charts for the 2003 EX V6 coupe shows that the 0-60 times was a 6.2 seconds? Is that the 5spd automatic or the 6 spd manual?
The bastard at the dealer told me that the 2003 EX V6 6-spd manual did a 7.1 on the 0-60 and that was the hard launch.
It sounded a little fishy because a 240 hp V6 seemed to be faster, but I don't know if the 6.2 sounds reasonable because that is as fast as the maximas and TL TypeS? Can anyone help because that would X out #6 in my list of reasons to buy a TSX over the accord.

I went into a Honda today to look at the cheaper step-brother of the CL, the Accord EX 6 cyl with Leather. Needless to say, I was quite impressed! The feature list and looks of this car are quite astonishing. It most definately sleeker looking than my '01 CL. With 240hp, I am not really off the mark there, although I will miss having the steptronic capability. All the EX needs is a rear spoiler, side body moldings (to at least help with dings), and fog lights and you got yourself one heck of a car for around 29-30k.
As for looks no contest here. The EX coupe blows away my CL-S with it's "cougar-type" lines. Add a spoiler to the EX and you got one sharp looking ride! The TSX is a real dull looking car, especially when compared to the style (not quality) of the Altima, Audi A4, and BMW. So far, I have not been impressed with the "stock" pics of the TSX. Of course, I will not pass total judgement on it until I take a look in a showroom. It may not look as bad in person.
I want a car with good pickup in the low rpm range, good torque numbers (for decent accel off a stop light), and most definately good passing power on the highway.
Now, coming from the 3000GT's 220hp 6cyl and now the CL-S's 260 6 Cyl, I am really using both of these as a barometer for comparison with my next car. I believe that in order to get the VtEC 4 in the TSX going, you have to be in the high rpm range. Am I correct in this assumption? If this is the case, with A/T this doesn't always translate into a smooth driving experince.
One of the things I liked about the CL (even more than my 3000GT) was low-end torque and confidence instilled by 260 6 cyl power.
It's just that damn 4 cyl auto that makes me not wanna "take a step back" from powerful (220+) 6cyl engines.

Sry- I can't speak from personal experience. I should've mentioned that. All about the reviews from magazines and japanese web pages translated to english. An Acura dealer from E.CLE has 8 TSXs and offered me to come in for a test drive. I'm being lazy by not going in. Still no definite price ~25,000-30,000
No answer about the Type-S?
It may not look as bad in person
Japanese Car of the Year = Looks Great in Person (Stock)
4 cyl auto that makes me not wanna "take a step back" from powerful (220+) 6cyl engines
They fixed that problem with the six speed manual drive-by wire throttle system.
I want a car with good pickup in the low rpm range, good torque numbers (for decent accel off a stop light), and most definately good passing power on the highway.
i-VTEC, 166 lb-ft not very impressive, high reving- Never owned a i-VTEC engine so can't say nothing about the low rpms- but that is what the "i" is there for.
If I need to pay $28,000 for a TSX.... Better go with a TL, which has V-6 and roomier. Last chance to grab the 03 TL before they got redesigned and price boost up in 04.

No new word on the Type-S. I posted a link(which no longer works for some reason) under "TSX Type-S?" in the TSX Rumors section which describes that they are testing the Jap/Euro Accord Type-R somewhere in Germany. So I hope there will be a Type-S for us!

Test drove, the manual (sky blue, black interior). I was drawn to the car because of the external looks. When I got in, WoW. The interior complety blows away that of my TL-S. I am so psyched, I wanna jump even before October (new TL). Of course the only downer is the 4 cylinder engine. If I switch, I will certainly miss effortless 90 mph cruising.

I want to buy one here in Columbus but the local Acura dealer made it sound like they are only getting a few of this a month. Is he pulling my leg or are they really trickling these things out? He claimed he didn't have any pricing yet on the accessories? It also looks like they aren't willing to deal at all with this car as they seem to have them sold before they even arrive on the lot.
This car sounds like it is going to be a real pain in the ass to buy.

Hey fellas.
I just popped into North Shore Acura here in North Vancouver. The salesman, Chris was very helpful and I am test driving a 6-speed TSX on Saturday morning. I hadn't sat in the car until tonight and I must say that I'm very impressed with the interior. It just felt and looked so nice. The way the gauges light up when you open the door is a sweet touch. I was a bit dissapointed that black comes with the wood trim interior so I'll most likely go with silver (no gunmetal grey here in Canada...grrrrr), since I must have the aluminum trim.
The competition in my car shopping quest are as follows:
1. Subaru Impreza WRX sedan
2. Honda Accord coupe V6-MT
3. Mini Cooper S
But I think the TSX is going to win my heart. Test drive impressions on their way Saturday night.

I want Carbon Grey so bad I might not buy a TSX this year. I bet that Acura Canada offers it for the 2005 model year just to piss me off:mad:
I made the mistake of going to Acura.com and watching the video with tons of Carbon Grey TSX footage. I don't know if I can settle for silver now.
This is a major dilema for me. You lucky Americans get more choice, as usual.
Good luck at the bank

I picked up my TSX MT two weeks ago. I swapped drives with a friend's Integra Type R. We both agreed that they had comparable handling and performance.
I was also interested in an Accord 6 cyl/6 sp, but it was totally unavailable. The dealer is the biggest in CT, and said they received 1 so far this year, and HOPED to get another sometime during the year.
I test drove the TSX on Monday and picked it up Tuesday.
My previous car was a 2001 Accord EX.

Mine will be in this week. Silver with black interior, manual trans. and some serious tint. Sweet! We've driven it twice now, can hardly wait. If you're thinking about one, get it while you can.

I've ordered two and let both of them go because I didn't like the color and I haven't sold my car. Stay tuned for news on #3...maybe a charm. Now thinking about possiible red but the parchment interior is a must.

I gave in on the too-low passenger seat so my husband could get his sports car. We had to order one and were told about 2.5 months, because we want the navigation system. We were set to buy the pearl white and when we arrived for our appt. this one greeted us...we had never seen the color on a car before. It took our breaths away. We just loved it and the classy sedate interior. Three pictures are here: http://www.pbase.com/image/18651720/original. Click on "Next" 2 x for the interior and our salesperson at Apple Tree Acura in Asheville, NC.

Looking for 1999 Passat 1.8T M replacement and am considering reliability a prime factor for this 62 y/o. I like a car that can run and had been fantasizing over the A4 and 323i but at my age I want something that can do it all, or at least "most of it." Owned a '92 Civic EX 5 spd for a few years and had zero problems with it but was not that impressed overall. This TSK has the look of a winner and I want to drive the 6M on the Beltway here in DC for a good wring out drive. Would forego the navigation pkg as I can usually find my way anywhere. Figure $25-26K range. I will wait, if need be. Chipped my Passat so would be interested in aftermarket performance gains, but at this point am uninformed. Maybe need to stop reading European Car magazine....and turn west.

Tired of black cars myself, so this time I'm going with silver.
Since we don't get carbon grey in Canada, I'm ordering a satin silver 6spd, ebony int, no navi with spoiler and roof visor. Our dealers "winterize" them so they already come with splash guards, all season mats, and a block heater right off the bat. It also comes with the wheel locks.
Through my company, I got a smoking "fleet" price on it. Saved well over $3K CDN off mrsp. I'm happy now and will be even happier when it comes in! :)
does anybody know if the tsx is gonna come up w/ the type-s, soon? I'm planning to buy a TSX in a mo., I own a 1999 Accord & I love it, since the TSX is the american version of the euro accord, it should be an amazing machine. . . .

We test drove both the TSX and the V6 Accord. I didn't like the braking on the Accord. It was too sensitive. I found myself jerking the brakes. Other than that I liked it, but we got the TSX because my husband liked its styling. The steering is a bit more sporty too.
