Sorry to tell ya. But yep maybe just a little bit too much. (f)(l)(a)(
Mine was a euro lux auto. Got it about 2-3wks ago for 44k including mat (RRP $47300). Maybe because I bargained in June (end of financial year). A good indicator is that you should be able to get slightly above the RRP driveaway. They do funny trick with the RRP price and jack it up by about $1500 for air cond (I though this would already be standard by now???) Got my tinting elsewhere for $275 (Sungard Endurance) on a "We come to you" service, so I could watch my car being done.
Me personally, I never buy OEM add on kits. They are a waste of money and add no improvement to performance at all (just a fluffy cosmetic gadget. As for spoilers, they don't do jack all buy spoil your rear mirror view, spoil your pocket, spoil your boot cover (holes punched) and makes it harder to wash the car. The car is already very beautiful as it is. But some people like to personalise it to look different from everyone elses (maybe I'm a boring person). I usually go for factory fitted options (such as going for the lux model) because everything is done on the assembly line and gives you better value for money than if you were to purchase them separately.
If I had extra cash, I'll save it up for a better speaker system and brand new quality tyres. Tyres have more effect on cars performance, handling and comfort than all of the OEM kits combined. But that's just me.

Get some sleep. You'll need it for your drive. :bowdown1: ddddddddd2 ddddddddd2
As with price, it varies from state to state becuase of the stamp duty. I don't know how much the boot mat is worth though. Could be a few hundred bucks (if it's genuine Honda).

kitbkk, there is a sort of limiter on your engine that wont allow you to sit there and rev it if it is in neutral. Also, with ur price, i dont think u did to badly. I bought mine (Manual, standard with OEM kit minus spoiler, paint protection, rust proof, interior and matts, and interior woodgrain dress kit) for 41K drive away. I was going to go luxury but decided i'd rather get the OEM kit as it was one or the other.
Congrats on the purchase and enjoy your new Honda!

that is a very bad idea. New engines are very tight and they need to wear away evenly and slowly (engine running in or break in). If you rev it hard, it is going to scrape chunks of metal away inside the engine. I usually keep the revs well bellow 3k rpm. If you pull the oil dipstick out, you can sometimes see bits of metal floating on the oil. Make sure you get your oil and filter changed at 1000km. :nono:
That's why I never buy a demo model. People like me cane the car on test drives while it is new in the dealership. :troutslap rrrrrrrrr6

Mine only had 11km. I guess this is for the test after it rolled out of the factory. A bit more is used to roll the car into and out of the ship. If you have 40km, that would probably mean that the dealer didn't use a tow truck to delver it from the warehouse. Instead a person just drove it to the dealer from the warehouse (probably cheaper for them, even though they are charging $1500 for dealer delivery).

Even if you paid a bit too much for the Euro it is still streets ahead value-wise than any Oz car I can think of.
I got here from the U.S. on permanent re-assignment in May 05. Had a week to find a car and had researched them all quite diligently, then drove the Mazda6, Holden Vectra, and Accord. I would have paid 5K more for the Honda based on that drive and the fact that the Mazda had a disco interior and is well, a Mazda and not a Honda, and the Vectra 4 cyl was a slowpoke and an unknown to me for reliability and resale. Once I drove the Euro it was settled. I got an auto, silver metallic, Std model (at 6' 3" headroom a premium so no sunroof for me), tinting, mats. Got it for $35.5K on the road.
Most new Asian cars here are about 20% higher than in the U.S. (European cars are just ridiculously priced) and are de-spec'd - for instance Mazda3 only gives 2.3 liter if you buy top of line, Mazda6 doesn't even offer the V6. Though I've not looked at the spec sheet on the U.S. TSX, the Euro has all the features I want or need, and has the good bits that count in common.
Considering what I would have paid in the U.S. for tax/registration, and the fact that I got 1 year of compulsory insurance and registration, taxes paid at my price, I think I got the car as cheaply as I could have in the U.S. It is a screaming deal here as it is the eqivalent of Subarus which are quite pricey here, and tops many of the overpriced Europeans.

Couldn't agree more. oooo4
I have done my research too. I test drove the Mazda 6 and didn't like it. They put a lot of emphasis on sportiness that the interior was noisy and the car felt bumpy over rough roads. The interior looked cheap and looked like a slap on job. The only real advantage the Mazda 6 had was its low price and comprehensive equipment such as curtain airbags as standard.
As for Holdens, I have never even bothered to look at them. No offense to Aussies (I am one too) but they are shitty cars (Fords are just a tad better). There are news on TV that they have got numerous product recalls and the car produced is not high tech or good value nor fuel-efficient. The Vectra is actually a European Opel. I saw that commodores could range $40k to $50k ish and they still don't have curtain airbags and leather seats are still optional extras. I rather get a Maxima. Moreover, the designers are so lazy that even on most of their range, all the models look almost the same, even when you have to fork out more money. Ridiculous. You can tell that Holdens are only sold in Australia, New Zealand and Middle East as Chevrolets. But everywhere else around the world, nobody wants to buy them! Whereas Hondas, Toyotas, Nissans, BMWs, Mercs etc are GLOBAL cars and are common throughout the world. These manufacturers can pump in huge amounts of money for R&D and manufacture with care since they would be able to sell huge volumes throughout the world. Maybe Holdens and Fords are just clinging on the fact that Aussies have some patriotism and would buy Aussie cars, but once that goes away, I wouldn't be surprised if Aussie car manufacturers face bankruptcy. :buttkick:
As for European cars, they only have pride in their European heritage. That's is all. I tried the VW passat and the interior looked very bland, the engine was underpowered and the car itself was small. But, they wanted to charge $50k ish for that rubbish. Crazy! I also looked at the BMW 320 and it too was underspec'ed. the only feature inside was leather seats. That's it. No power seats & not even back seat pockets to save money & underpowered engine. But they charged about $60k on the road. Crazy!
I wouldn't mind though having to pay US gas prices of ~US$2.50/gallon over here. Also luckily I didn't buy the other V6 Accord. It had nice comfort level and huge power, but I wasn't willing to pay for the petrol. An Accord Euro 4-cylinder will do for me.

kitbbk, from your plate number, i'm guessing that you bought your euro in John Blair. am i right? :) i can get the lux for 41,500 at the other dealers, but i bought the standard one for 35k.
anyway, i had a really bad experience at John Blair before (i hope they read this!) and never want to buy any hondas from there or refer anyone to buy a honda there. one day, i went there with a friend of mine, who used to own a merc E-Class. he was interested in buying a civic hybrid because of the increasing fuel price. after asking for the price, the dealer quoted us for 31k. when my friend said that it was too expensive, the sales person only answer, and this is a quote from that guy. "if you can not afford it, that is fair enough" and said nothing else.

yeah man I bought my euro from John Blair honda and I agreed with you the prices are very expensive compaired to other honda dealers.. Because it is my first car and none of my friends have got a car yet. SO ,, at that time my mom was here and she just wanted to go to any nearest dealers from the city..so John Blair is..then .. I agreed to buy it.. I bought the paint protection which was offered from them ,,I spent about 2k on it but.. today.. I drove my car to the panel beater in North Melbourne area where I could claim to get my scratches fixed..when I got there ,, they said the scratch was too big to get it resprayed..I mean it is only smaller than 2*2cms and another 1 is about 3-4cms long.. they said i have to get the whole rear bumper resprayed in stead of just the scratches part. Im quite upset with this cause wats the point of spending about 2k and can not get the scratch which is about 500 bucks fixed??.. damn .. i do not recommend anyone to go there except the dealer who sold the car to me was very very nice looking, blond,, and her body is.. bomb!!
Unfortunately to say, "paint protection" offered from Honda or any new dealership aftersales of new cars is nothing more than an added wax layer. Whether if it truly has any positive effects on true paint protection ... Well, we'd leave that up to how an individual feels. In fact, this so called paint protection is so important. You can even negotiate how much in costs.
A common name of such business offering this waxed on gloss is Waxguard. If you were to approach them directly or one of their resellers. You'd be suprised, they'd charge you approximately $300-$600 depending on negotiation skills as well. A far cry from the $2000 sticker protection from dealership snakes.
Now as for your scratches, sometimes it's not how long it is but instead how deep it is. Try to wax it off after a carwash with any generic waxing gel/cream application. If that doesn't improve the condition to your likes, you're very sure it does need a respray. I'd personally leave it ... It's conditional wear and tear. Once you get pass it, you'd be fine. And watch those micro flying stop chips on the freeway as well, now those will even chip your paint off.

You spent 2k on the paint protection??? OMG ... u must be pretty noob :) when i bought my euro at robert lane, they offered me $600 for the paint protection! u've been ripped off bad, mate!!
I know the product that they use for their paint protection is Crystal Glaze. we can bought it from US for US$24 for a gallon, which is more than enough for 1 car.

yeah haha.. i know im a noob here in OZ man.. I also came from ovaseas so ..yeah gotta learn things here a bit.. for the paint protection i got.. it is including paint insurance and leather protection too.. for the paint,,if i have any small chips, scratches or dents.. i can have them fixed, resprayed for 30 dollars for each.. but the scratches, dents can not be bigger than about 5*5 cms i think.. yeah. i still think they riped me of man coz i dont think its worth it paying 2k for those sh*t

LOL ... another bad news for you mate. When the dealer offered me the paint protection package, I asked them 'what happen if i got an accident? will the affected areas will be resprayed by the paint protection? if yes how much will it cost me?'. they said that if i got an accident and parts of the body needs to be replaced or resprayed, the dealer will resprayed it again for free, regardless the size of the damage :) i dont know if they are bulls**ting or not .. even though a sales person is nothing but a bulls**t (i know this coz i used to work as a sales person), but they still needs to be careful of what they told the customer.
i suggest you go back to your dealer and smack that hot body blonde chick in the a** hard!! =) i'll be glad to go and smack those a** with you. lol :)
if you have any other friends who want to buy a Honda, i suggest you to go to Eastern Honda at Doncaster, and ask for Jack. he is a nice bloke .. always refer my friends to go there
The general coverage policy of Waxguard (Don't know about other trading/marketing name) applied by Honda Australia's dealership is - Should you require a respray of this "magical paint protection". It is done free of charge for the life of your factory warranty period. After that warranty period, it is subject to charge.
But, I really question how many people actually bother getting this done even if it's free of charge. Not only is it a PITA to leave the car at the dealership for an X amount of time. I don't adversely see any differences with a well maintained car with/without this "magical protection".
I personally paid $100 with no negotiation required in Sydney by one of the Honda dealerships to have this added onto my S2000 (Exterior paint and interior leather protection) when I initially bought it new as well. In comparisons to the rest of the Hondas that I currently own new since then that don't have this "magical protection". All under the same maintenance/car/waxing period and garaging, there is no difference visually or when physically compared IMO.

Hello,
That magical protection I heard is actually a sealer and not a wax. I think this is supposed to add another layer on top of your clearcoat paint. It is supposed to protect the paint from sticky objects such as plant saps or bird droppings. I think you can get this at Big W for ~$30 a bottle which will last for yonks. It is a Mothers brand stage 2 for car detailing. Stage 1 is the cutting, stage 2 is the glazing and stage 3 is the wax. You can even get a top of the line polymer wax for $40 from Maguiars and it would last at least 10 applications. I personally wouldn't fork out extras $$ for these cons. You should watch out more of loose gravel on road that will chip your paint deep. No paint protection in the world can withstand these.
From experience from another old accord which was kept for 13years, the paint is fine without any protection at all (no oxidation). After age and washings the coat just have swirl patterns on it which could be seen from reflections. This can be eliminated by applying this sealer or temporary elimination by applying wax.
Hey Noel, can you find out for my and post here what is the valve clearance for the intake and exhaust for the Euro? I really would like to have this for future reference.
Thanks,
Yoko,
I'd contact my dealership contacts to find you that information. Give me some time if you don't mind.

Too late. I found it myself:
Intake 8/1000 to 10/1000 inch
Exhaust 10/1000 to 11/1000 inch
Can someone reconfirm that these measurements are correct??
Thanks. :hat:
