Squeeky Shifter

I have a 6MT and when i wiggle the shifter to the left there is a very loud squeeking noise coming from under the boot. It sounds like plastic rubbing agains either plastic or metal.It is very annoying. Any thoughts?

ive expereinced this only lately. i have the comptech short shift too. it is realllly annoying and does sound like plastic parts rubbing. i took it to the dealership and they said they couldnt recreate the noise so its fixed.... that happens alot
