Guys,
Just wanted to vent over the fact that I got my TSX in Oct 04, had the centre console replaced under warranty in Jan 05, and now they are out again. I am taking my car in tomorrow to get it replaced again. Has this happened to anyone else TWICE? Just thought i'd share......

Sorry to hear it!!
I'm pretty sure you're the lucky FIRST PERSON who had this happen twice. :D
At least as far as we've heard.

Hey guys!
Just wanted to update everyone with regards to my centre console lights going out for the second time since I got the car. The part is "back ordered" and I have been waiting 3 weeks so far. Is this normal? I am fed up now and contemplating trying to get Acura to throw some goodies my way like free oil changes or something. Is that reasonable? For anyone in the Toronto area, avoid Acura in Markham like the plague!! They are so useless!!
Thanks for listening!

They'll generally complete the work on your car before the fifth week.

Mine just recently went out. Luckily my dealer had one in stock. The original dealer that diagnosed the problem said a 6 week backorder for the part.

I took my TSX to my local dealer to get it repaired. They did not have it in stock but were able to get it from another dealer within 24 hours.
It's quite a hassle to have -anything- done at the dealership because they will not give me a loaner or a rental as I am not 25. It is infuriating.

really???
my dealership gives me & my GF free loaners if needed.
I am 22 and my GF is 23,
I am aware of the 25 for rented cars tho. but it has never been an issue at the dealership. used loaners twice now, no probs...

Hey guys/gals!
Finally got my centre console replaced after 6 weeks of waiting! They called and said the part was in and asked when I would like to bring it in and I replied "i'm bringing it in right now." They knew I wasn't happy about waiting so long which is probably why they gave me a TL for the 3hrs that they had my car and threw in a paint pen to ensure my customer satisfaction.
So far so good, no other problems to report. Hopefully no one else has to wait this long for this part because it is really annoying driving at night with no centre console lights. Take care!

Glad you finally got it done.
Hopefully that takes care of it!

when I was like 18 my acura integra went in for service. IT was called stick slip transmission, from 1st to 2nd gear it would give a small jolt. So they had to replace the tranny under the extended warrenty!!! only had to pay 100$ for a 2k$ job. anyways they gave me a silver integra for a loaner car for 2 weeks. if i remember. it is a Rental car that requires age to be 25 unless acura changed its rules.. im 24 now btw

there are a couple of "TSB'S" or "TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS"
in regards to center radio/clock/ NAV lights going out etc........
(don't know if this is your specific issue)
but you can find virtually all the TSB'S and RECALL'S on ACURA on this website!
(as well as common owner issues and complaints)

Larch,
Just to let you know, i've finally had an opportunity to use the paint pen on my hood and it works ok. The chips are not as noticeable because the rust color of the chip is gone and covered with matching white paint but I can still tell it has been touched up. Maybe I was just expecting too much from it but I have to remember it is not going to come out looking like new so after realizing that, I am satisfied with it. I definitely think it is worth the $12 and think every TSX should invest in one.
Word of advice though, after applying the colored paint, let it dry for over 48hrs before applying the clear coat. No instructions came with the pen so I learned that the hard way. It was like writing on paper after applying fresh white out.

Can someone clarify for me, because I'm certain that I have the same issue. I just bought the car 2 days ago, and noticed immediately the next evening when driving at night.
I have a TSX (non-NAV) and the lights around the radio and temp cluster are not lit (on). In other words, I cannot see any of the buttons that control the radio or the buttons that control the temp settings, etc.
I suspect I am having the same problem here. I can take back to dealership, no problem. I just wanted to see if this is actually what's going on here.
Thanks for any info.

There is one of the ordinary buttons on the left side of the radio display (I forgot which one) you can press and hold to totally turn those light on or off. I read this info few months ago in the Easter Eggs thread on the "other" forum. Then I checked to see if it's true, and yeah, it is, but since this was so long ago, I don't rememebr anymore which button that was. Can anyone else remember ??

Yes -- you hold down the CD/Aux button for a few seconds.
But the problem we're discussing here is TOTALLY ASIDE FROM THAT -- has nothing to do with it.

That's the button larchmont, thanks!
But dkowal described this exact problem. Only his radio and heater lights were off. And that's controlled via this CD/Aux button. So I hope you agree that b4 making a panic at the dealership about the car's lights braking on a 2nd day after he picked it up, he might want to first try this button, right?...

Absolutely right.
But I don't think that's ever been the problem for any of the people who have reported this, plus we know that the defect we're talking about is very common in those cars -- so it's extremely likely that what he has is this defect.
But sure, it's worth just trying that button. :D

Problem fixed. Dealership was extremely awesome to work with. Took about 3 days to order the new "radio". Then, they gave me a loaner car, replaced the radio and in 2 hours, I had my car back. Completely detailed all over again too, btw. Awesome customer service. Top notch. All the lights are functioning as normal. Service Rep explained that the radio has a part inside it that controls all those lights we're mentioning. Well, once that part goes bad, you need to have the entire radio replaced. Everything is working a-okay.

Yeah, Dkowal -- glad to hear it went so well!

I don't think we knew that.
(Did we?)
We just kept wondering why the whole unit had to be replaced.

YEs, that's exactly what the service rep told me..... They were super friendly and were VERY aware of the problem. It's happened in many units they said.
