How fast were you going on your last speeding ticket?

I got a speed tix last month for driving 72 in a 50 in my TSX, and the pig also decided to give me a ticket for a burnt out right side brake light too, what an ass....it cost me $280 in fines including lawyer fees.
I got ticket for going 140km/h in a 50 km/h zone..but i swear that place looked like a highway!!! well the cop was actually pulled over on the other side of the road ticketing ANOTHER car when he saw me....he quickly did a u-turn and even called backup to stop me...(the backup car came from the other direction) ya...well didn't really get the worst fine for that...the cop just told me i was "probably" going at over 90km/h~ hahaha~ at least I didn't get ticketed when I did 200km/h in an 80 km/h zone.... =)
I got cought twice on same highway 80mph on 50mile zone then 74 on 50 mile zone

The last speeding ticket I got I was supposedly going 40 in a 30 mile zone. I thought it was bogus and fought it and won. That was like a hundred years ago.

Geesh, I have lucked out soo many times in my life. I should have had roughly 4 tickets at least but everytime I get pulled over they let me go with a warning. I drive on average rougly 10 mph over limit. Sometimes 15 mpg over.

Really, three questions...
How fast were you ACTUALLY GOING?
How fast were you WRITTEN UP FOR?
How fast did you finally PLEAD TO?
I'm "in the gap too", although a couple of the points and half the fine went away because I hired a lawyer. Since I've been "good" for a whole year now, the last two points shoulda gone away too.
Memphis, I thought you were interested in my "Electronic Counter Measures" (ECM) installation... did you ever go for the Valentine-1 and the jammer?

I didn't know either, but this is what I found:
Valentine One has a patented warning system relying on both forward- and rearward-facing radar antennas (front and rear laser sensors too). It goes beyond Ordinary Detectors by telling you -- on every alert -- where to look, and how many to look for. Once you have this intelligence report, you can easily decide when to defend, and when you can simply shrug off a non-threatening alarm.
Valentine One is the only detector with two radar antennas -- one front and one rear -- to scan all around your car and precisely locate each radar threat.
Ordinary Detectors have a single antenna facing forward: to cover beside and behind your car, they hope radar will take a lucky bounce into the front opening.
Valentine One uses front and rear antennas reporting to an onboard computer to analyze and precisely locate every radar threat, either by direct reception from one antenna or triangulation between both antennas.

It was a weird day. Still remember the date -- it was the day that Mickey Mantle died -- heard it on the radio in the car.
Or at least that's my excuse. Even though I didn't think of telling it to the cops.
Why do I say "cops," plural? Because it was multiple times that day.
The 88 was the first ticket. It was probably the actual speed I was going, and it's what I was written up for. What did I plead to? I don't even know, because.....
A little further along, I got stopped again. I had just exited the highway, and was still going pretty fast.
A cop stopped me for GOING THROUGH A RED LIGHT, which I did do.
I explained to him that I did it because I WAS GOING TOO FAST TO STOP SAFELY, and I decided it would be best to just go through because I saw no one was coming through the green.
So he wrote me up for TWO violations. :D
All of that would have put me over the point allowance. Plus, it was far upstate, and I wasn't about to go there to fight it.
So I just got a good lawyer up there (REAL good), who handled it all for me.
She (yeah, a chick!) got one of the tickets thrown out and the other two reduced, don't know how much (which is why I don't know what I "pleaded to.")
And I was fine. :jester:
P.S. I got stopped a third time during that ride too, but talked my way out of that one.

It's been nearly 10 years since my last ticket (knock on wood). I think I was going around 15-20 over on I-85 through Atlanta just before the Summer Olympics in 1996. I hope to get a V1 for X-mas to help keep the streak going, because I think I have been lucky not to get one lately (I tend to drive fast). :D

Sorry, couldnt finish what I was typing earlier...I recently decided that rather then leave the V1 on the passenger side sunvisor...Im going to mount it inside the headliner, right above the rear view mirror...cutting a small hole so the front can shoot out, from what Ive seen v1 is still pretty good at picking up signals even if they are hidden like that... (My Friends BMW has it in the headliner as well, central in the middle of the car...works great.) and leave the remote display down in the Not an ashtray area... just a thought...not sure if im going to do it or not... eventually going to go with Jammer's as well, just other things tend to require alot of money and time first...

Valentine One is a radar/laser detector... arguably the best... also one of the most expensive ($399). Here's their website: http://www.valentine1.com/
A jammer is an electronic device that is supposed to cause the police radar to get false readings. A car magazine did a test of jammers a few years ago and came to the conclusion that none are very reliable, but are very expensive.
My advice is to get a good detector and don't swerve in-and-out of traffic (bring attention to yourself or piss off other drivers). I knew a guy who would called the cops on his cell phone when a guy cut him off. He ended up following the guy until the cops showed up. The driver ended up having an outstanding warrant.
Also, don't speed if you're pretty much the only one on the road... many times cops won't turn their equipment on until it's too late for your detector to notify you.

Laser jammers are kinda for the hard-core, 'cause they require a lot of running wires and some drilling.

Laser jammers are legal in most states.
You can jam radar (ie., it's technically feasible), only it's a Federal offense.

Good story! Ever wonder about the stars and planets effecting our lives?
Mickey Mantle?
John Effin Kerry was responsible for mine!
Right before the 2004 election I was listening to Kerry being interviewed by Imus and trying to wrap my brain around something he said that, to this day still doesn't make any sense. Now, this is a speed trap THAT I'VE KNOWN ABOUT FOR YEARS, and managed to go through about 2 mph over on all previous occasions. ALL my ECMs went off and I STILL went through the thing at well, much more than I was ticketed for, and I was ticketed for 74 in a 50.

It was 2 cars ago in my 1999 Prelude - racing a 1996 Prelude SRV. I was going 160km/h (100mph) when the cop lost sight of me..... I didn't know he was following in the 1st place, he caught me when I slowed down after winning the race. Luckily enough, he only gave me the ticket for 20 over, but I was actually more then double the limit on the highway....

I called my dad and asked him where the insurance was, after I found it, I was yelling for the cop to please come back to the car, so I could talk to him and give him the insurance... he was sitting there in his car smoking a cigarette taking his time writing up my ticket's... I got out of the car and tried to give him the insurance... he cuffed me threw me in the back and then gave me two tickets, one for speeding, one for failure to produce insurance, so I wanted to file formal charges against him, and they are gonna bargain me out if I dont file charges... so Ill see what they can do for me, they cant take back the ticket once its wrote out... and since I already have 6 points on my license, this would be another 8, and I really really need to talk this down, your allowed 10 (lose your license @ 11)

OK, I get it.
It's not your fault, really -- because there's no way to know this unless you've been cuffed or arrested before for this, or if you just happened to hear about it or read about it.
The thing is, believe it or not, when a cop stops you, he has some FEAR of you, just automatically -- because he never knows for sure. I'm sure you've seen those TV video shows, where we see what sometimes happens when cops stop people -- the cops get SHOT. Or whatever.
Any time you do anything in that kind of situation that makes the cop have even the slightest concern that you might be aggressive toward him, you're a target, and with some good reason, because the cop has to assume the worst for his own safety.
By the way.....I've never been cuffed or arrested, I just happened to read a book by an ex-cop who talked about that kind of thing.
And as I looked back, I realized I had been LUCKY a couple of times. There were times that I was in a situation kind of like yours, and I became pretty insistent.....
Rightly or wrongly, you really have to be as PASSIVE as possible, especially not leaving your car unless he tells you to, and not going toward him.

Speeding tickets? Came close twice.
Once in my Integra GS-R. My brother asked me how fast I could get the car to go on this empty stretch of highway in Southern California. It was about 10 or 11 at night, no cars behind, next to, or in front of me. So I thought, hey why not. Got the car up to 120 m.p.h. (193.12 k.p.h.), and could see traffic up ahead. Hit the brakes, downshiftedput the car on cruise control doing the posted speed limit of 65 m.p.h. (104.61 k.p.h.), and got over into the right hand/slow lane.
My brother and I started talking about how we could have gotten faster if we had more road/distance. 5-7 seconds later, a Highway Patrol vehicle flies by in the left hand/fast lane eaisly doing 100+ m.p.h. Then my brother says, "You know he most likely saw you speeding by, and now he is looking for you on the freeway up ahead." The next off-ramp, I exited the highway, and took the back roads home.
Second time I was also in my Integra GS-R. Happened last year. I was heading home after working a 14-hour night shift. So it was about 8 or 9 in the morning, a few miles from home, and I decided that I would accelerate around this bend in the road, without knowing what was up ahead. The posted speed limit was 45 m.p.h., and at this point I may have been going at least 55 or 60 m.p.h. while changing lanes...without signaling though...I was tired and wanted to just get home.
Well, coming the opposite direction was a police officer. When he saw me speeding out of the bend heading up the hill...alone...with no other cars around me, he turned on his lights, pulled a U-eee, and started heading for me. I knew he was gonna get me, so before he could even complete his U-turn, I was already slowing down and pulling over. By the time he got to my car, I had my car parked, engine off, and my drivers license and car insurance ready to go.
He then asked me..."Do you know why I pulled you over?" Thinking to myself, "Did you pull me over, or did I just pull over and wait for you to get here?" I responded to him, "not really." He then asked me, "Do you know what the speed limit is here?", and before I could answer he asked me "how fast do you think you were going?" So I responded, "50...maybe 55 m.p.h.?"
He looked at me with a cheesy "I know you know how fast you were really going, you're just not telling me" smile. So he asked me for my driver’s license registration, and insurance. After giving him my license and insurance, I turned toward the glove box to get my registration. Now with my back turned to him, I heard him say..."Just because we have the same last name, don't think you are going to get off easy!"
Not trying to make direct eye contact with him...because now I am embarrassed not only for getting pulled over but because of the comment he just made...I looked up and stared right at his name badge...and sure enough, we had the same last name.
Realizing that I was now dumb-founded and had no reply for his comment, he walked away to write the ticket. 5 minutes later he came back and gave me a ticket for failing to use my turn signal.
His parting words..."Slow it down bud, m-kay?"

Heh that is a great couple of stories there 2005 tsx. I have a pretty good one too from 2 halloweens ago.
I was coming back from a friends place on October 30th (Devil's night) at like 2 or 3 in the morning and was just dead tired. I am coming thru this residential neighborhood at like 50 mph when I think the speed limit was like 20. I figured no one was on the road and I just wanted to get home. So I was flying down this road and see this car creeping really slow down the side of the street. Did not think anything of it then I pass him and it is a cop. So i say DUH he is out because of devil's night.
I look in my rearview and sure enough he is turning around to come get me. I just stepp on it! and take all the backroads to my house, luckily I made it away from him, but it was definitely a rush :).

Last speeding ticket I got wasn't necessarily a speeding ticket. Well, it was but it wasn't. What happened was, the cop pulled me over going 10mph over on a 55pmh freeway off ramp. But he was actually being nice because instead of giving me a ticket for speeding, he gave me a fix-it ticket instead for my tints! So, I guess I kinda got off a bit. Although, instead of getting it fixed, I just paid the fine! I forget how much bit it was better than my having to retint my car to its original state!
One thing I learned from one of my guy friends. SMILE when you take your driver's license. He told me he got off getting a ticket once because he thinks it's because he had a CHEESY smile on his driver's license! hahahaha  Could be true! I never got out of a ticket and I'm a FEMALE! haha

^^^ that's pretty crazy!
Anyway, I'm so bummed...I just got a ticket driving home from work! :( I was going 91mph on a 65mph freeway/bridge. I don't know where my mind was, but since there was no traffic, I think I kind of took advantage of the free road! GRRRRRRRR! The cop was nice and told me to go below 80mph next time so it won't look so obvious! Mayn, it's so ironic because I usually do go 80mph on that bridge!
Since I can't really contest it, I'll probably just take traffic school to erase that from my record! I'm so mad though! I haven't gotten a speeding ticket in years! I was doing so good!

GRRRRRRR! :banghead: I should've said I was speeding because I had to go PEE! hahahahaa

The last speeding ticket I've got was in 1993 while driving home after a 20 hour day after a night weapons firing range in the Army. I was the only person on the road at 2am and I was only doing 65 mph in a 55 mph zone. I took it to court and the judge let it go.
My wife has gotten pulled over about 5 times in the last 10 years (she is always late to something). They let her go everytime because she is a federal law enforcement officer. She keeps the badge and driver Lic together when she has to show it for any reason. Law enforcement discounts come in handy.

You dont even need to lie to the cop, Just say thanks and take the ticket if it seems like your not getting out of it... Go to court, plead not guilty, half the time the'll give you a deal just for showing up... works for them, they get more money, you get less points and spend less in the long run.

Yeah, that really comes in handy! I have an ex co-worker who knew a cop and told her that if she ever got pulled over to just mention his name! Lucky! :(
And Brent, thanks for the advice! Maybe I'll just show up to court and hope I get a lesser fine than just paying off the ticket!

Well...I have been pulled over at least 13 times, 5 of those times I have gotten tickets, one of those that I didn't get a ticket, I was doing 105mph in a 65!, and there was 1 time I ran from the cops after passing him doing 80+ in a 50, and then there's the three times in one day that cops pulled over the wrong cars thinking they were me :patty:
My last ticket was for doing 120mph in a 65...got written up for modfied exhaust too (my little mufler on my Civic). They even made me pop my hood. Boy did they look dissapointed when they say the JDM valve cover with just a AEM CAI and CARB Exempt DC Header. Total came to $650!

Wow... you almost sound like you're bragging. Sounds like you need to either slow down or stay off the city streets.

No kidding. There's speeding, and then there's reckless abandonment of law. Especially with us heading into winter.

Well, I am just saying how lucky I am . Also, I forgot to mention that this was all during my ownership of 'Sport Compacts' (Integra, Civic Si) I have since realized that what I was doing was stupid and wreckless. Ironically, I crashed my Civic Doing the speed limit and driving safely. Go figure. Anyways, I got the TSX for itz luxury. I have changed my driving habbits, and have since realized that safer driving also leads to better gas milage! :wiggle:
