Hey Guys/Ladies!
Great forum, I am new to it but I feel as though I've been a long standing member since I have always read your threads. I recently, 2 1/2 months ago, purchased a new TSX 2005, carbon grey, navi, ebony interior. The car is a dream. I left the car parked in a garage for 9-10 days and when I returned the battery was completely drained, I got a boost and everything was well after that, but my concern is why the battery drained in the first place? Dealer told me it was normal because of the the load on the battery with all the new electronics equipment. What do you guys think? I'm pretty sure that i did not leave any lights on or doors ajar.

Well the problem with the TSX battery is it has a very low reserve, when the cars running its great, can handle whatever u throw at it, however if u leave a light on, or anything running while the cars shut off, ur batterys gonna be dead in 15 minutes...

Hmmm - I've left the car for a few days and didn't notice anything like that. I don't have Navi, and I don't leave any lights on, and I've been able to start the car just fine.
What did you leave on in the car? It shouldn't just die after 10 days.

My dad has experienced this problem with his Lexus SC 430 (Navi). After leaving the car parked for about a week, the battery would be drained and it would need to be jump started. It worked fine after the jump. If he was not planning to use it for a while, I would have to take it out every once in a while to let the battery charge up, even if it was just going to grab a bite to eat. Nothing was left open or turned on, but he did have the alarm on during this time. I guess this is one draw back to having the Navi.

my car sat for 4 weeks last month. It started right up. Its a 2005 TSX AT w/Navi. Stock battery. Just 2 days ago I had my radio on for about 3 hours with the car off. it started right up then too. I think there might be an issue with having a problem after just 9 days

I had exactly the same prob happened to me - battery was flat when I came back from a trip at the airport. I did leave one light on...(reading lights in the front passenger side).
But I did notice that the car would have a hard time to start if I left the car sitting at a parking for more than 8-10 days. It would start but seemed to lack some juice - that was before my battery ran flat. Since then, the car has been running fine with that same battery.

I am on my 3rd battery @ 44xxx miles and the last one was replaced with a 100 month 830 CCA battery by Johnson Controls. Apparently Acura has dropped the Panasonic batteries.

-20 celcius with windchill today. car would not crank. it seems as if all the electronics are fine, but, the engine just wouldn't start.
this isn't the first time this has happen, the only difference is that eventually, after about 5 tries, it'd start up...
i think i should look for a new battery...

had my car sitting for 6 weeks during summer when I was away - came back - started right up. About a month ago I had the car sitting for about 10 days, went to start and the batt. was dead - had to jump start it. I don't use the car every day, sometimes it sits unused for a week or more at a time. But this was the only time the batt. died like that. And it wasn't even one of the coldest weeks. Go figure. But on average, 50% of a time when cranking and the car is cold, the batt. seems low because it doesn't have the power to start on a first try.

Honda has had an ongoing problem with batteries; my wife's Ody battery died at about 14 months. My TSX battery seems to have no cranking power when it's cold.....

Just get an Optima battery. Although I've never tried one, I've heard nothing but great things about them. I've personally used Interstate Megatron batteries in all my older cars and those things last forever, have high CCA, and you can drain them time and time again, and charge them back up, and they work like they were brand new after each charge and all subsequent start-ups until you somehow manage to drain it again possibly years later. My Civic has been sititing in the garage with a megatron battery for over a month, and started right up without hesitation yesterday.

ya, i've been reading a lot about optima yellow and red-tops in multiple forums...
i'll look into it. i really do need more heavy duty battery. deep cycle batteries seem like the way to go...

Hi Mr. XXXX,
As of 2006 TSX, they are still using Panasonic batteries.

Hi Vince,
Did Acura drop the use of Panasonic batteries in the TSX? If so, is the new
OEM battery more powerful than the Panasonic? The Panasonic batteries are
pretty weak.
Thanks,

I'm thinking of purchasiing this car but after reading about battery drain problems I have decided to put my purchase on hold. The thing is I drive only on the weekends and the rest of the time it will be garaged. Sometimes the car may be garaged for up to 2 weeks. I live in Australia and would like to hear from people if they have experienced this battery drain problem.

you can still buy the car, just spend few extra $$ on a good battery if that's your concern.
