Same story - lights out on clock, radio and a/c on my 04 non-nav. Tried the cd/aux button but no such luck.
Dealer is making me come back in to "make sure" that's what it is, then they will order the part (none in stock...), but he agreed that it is likely what it is and covered under warranty.

BTW, they want $199 for the 20,000 mile service! The only actual parts are oil/filter and fuel system cleaner! Hmmm.

Ha! No they supposedly "check" and "inspect" your fluid and pressure and other important "stuff." I guess it costs them 170.00 to look around your car. My center console went out on me twice.

Yeah -- this has been a VERY common problem on the '04's.
Although I think it usually happens SOONER than 20K miles, if it's gonna happen.

Hopefully your fix will go smoothly. But what a hassle!!

P.S. I don't mind $199 servicings.
But maybe that's because I used to have a BMW....... :nervous:

Thanks all. Yea, shouldn't be a big deal. Its actually kind of makes me think how amazing cars (and the world, really) actually are these days - how many things Don't go wrong. One little board/circuit somewhere and who knows what won't work. Pretty glad its only a few interior lights and honestly, only a minor annoyance. Probably could drive it this way indefinitely if had to. (But glad the warranty is covering fixing it...)

As far as the $199 service, I actually really have no problem with paying more for things if I see some sort of value in it. The peace of mind of supposedly "Acura" certified people working on my car is of some value, but it is just way out of balance. Sure a nice waiting room, possible loaner and Acura staff/parts are all nice. And if it was a few bucks more that would seem fine to me. But from what I understand, $200 for what they are doing just seems way out of wack with reality. And I know I need brakes, so I'm guessing over $250 for the fronts (more???) so it will be an expensive visit for a 2 year old car with less than 20k.

Happened to me around mile 25k. The part came in quickly, but the dealer forgot to call so I waited too long to have it fixed. I think it's funny that they replace your entire console instead of fixing a circuit or something, since when mine went out it seemed like a clear short since the interior lighting would act as if the lights were off when they were on :donno:

That's what I've thought too.
Kinda like a light bulb keeps burning out in your house -- so they build you a new house. :D

Just happened to me the other day on my 04 auto non-nav, around 18,200 miles. I was hoping it was an issue with a certain fuse, but I guess not.. Time to call the (75 miles away) dealership. Guess they can fix the headlight fogging issue too.

Tried the cd/aux button but no such luck. What's the deal with this? Has it worked for anyone? What are you supposed to do with the button?

Holding it down for a few seconds makes some of the display lights go on/off.

Before we knew about this console-lights problem, that was what people always suggested. But it was never that.
But what the hey -- Try it!

Sorry to hear about your problem. It seems the '04's almost routinely have it, and your mileage is in the range of when it tends to happen.
