New TSX Owner
Newbie here...
We just bought a 2006 Premium White TSX, black interior, 6 speed manual for my wife.
I really like it but she loves it, which is the most important thing!
Even though it has only 51 000km/30 000miles on it, it's needed a ton of detailing:
- All 4 brakes were dragging, had to remove all the calipers & pads to clean and derust the sliders and pad holders.
-Tranny fluid was quite dark. Kinda worrisome but trans shifts fine & no noises. Installed Honda/Acura MTF since still under warranty.
-Tons of rock chips. All touched up & will give it the full 3M clear paint protection treatment & headlight protection.
-The shifter throws are light & easy but very long. CT Short shift stub & aluminum bushings are on the way.
-Needs ugly bodyside moldings & door edge guards for my wife.. See my other thread!
-Removed rear window shelf in preparation for rear window tinting.
-It has the factory rear wing.. I really don't like it.. Perhaps trade for a non-wing white trunk lid locally?
Then I will remove all the badges on the trunk.
-4 mufflers plus a cat?? Way too quiet.. still considering cutting off the 2 (square) pre-muffler.
-The complex air intake resonator.. Will likely do a K & N dyi air intake.
-Shopping for winter wheels & tires. I don't like the stock wheels & tires at all but they will stay for now.
Thanks.. Joe

Thanks for the welcome everyone...
Installed the CT short shifter stub and aluminum (solid) shifter bushings a few days ago.
Time consuming but not hard to install. The hardest part is to remove the clip-in center console piece. One really has to work to get it out, while being on the verge of breaking it the entire time.
The shifter now feels awesome. I measured the throws before & after. The short shifter stub reduces the throws by 1.5inches overall. Now the car is much nicer to drive, shifts are still easy but much shorter and tighter. I highly recommend this mod.
I still have that red goofy "Not an ashtray" piece out. Unfortunately it's molded red all the way thru.
Anyone know of a black replacment piece? How about painting it black?
..Joe

Well, I painted that goofy red storage bin & it looks awesome.
Unfortunately, the pics I took got inadvertently deleted. I will have to take pic of it installed in the car.
1st up was the red felt bin was filthy dirty & I couldn't get it clean. So I just tossed it into the dishwasher.
Lol, it came out perfectly clean & looked brand new. I almost just installed it as is...
I did a test paint on the red felt on the hidden side part 1st. It looked fine, so I gave it 2 very lite coats of Tremclad semi-gloss black spray paint. 24 hrs between coats.
The felt is still fuzzy but not nearly as much with the paint.
I tried scraping the paint off but it's quite durable.
It looks totally factory. Like all vehicles, fixing all the little things really improves the overall car.
I'll post a pic up later this w/end..
I have some used 16 x 6.5 inch 5 spoke RSX wheels on the way. These will be our winter wheels.
Pricier than black steel wheels but much nicer looking & no goofy hubcaps to deal with.
I've calculated that 195/65R16 tires would be perfect for the car & these wheels but this is an oddball size & only Nokian makes winter tires is this size.
I'm still sorta shopping for summer wheels/tires. I hate the stock wheels & tires.

Reason: added bold highlight for what paint I used.

Pic of the red "not an ashtray" now painted black..
It looks kinda red in the pics but in reality, it's black.
Our car had a broken foglight when we bought it.
They use a ton of gravel in the winter here in Calgary which hammers the cars.
Instead of replacing the broken foglight, & then putting on some kind of protection, I just covered them with rubber material.
I also removed the fog light fuse so they don't work.
Total cost: 0$ And it's non-permanent.
It looks factory, end of fog light issues.

both of the foglights cracked within the first 6 months of ownership on my 06 tsx. The dealer replaced them free as a one-time goodwill. I then put rockblocker on them.

No problem Jon. It was nice meeting you also.
Too bad the weather wasn't better & our cars cleaner! And we forgot to take pictures.
Thanks for the ride in your car. The Hondata flash is quite subtle but it really changes the power band of the car.
In my TSX, it's kind of a dog below 5k rpm. If I'm really pushing it I try to keep it above 6k rpm, above the Vtec point.
This makes for a really narrow power band & constant shifting.
But with the Vtec point at 4850rpm, the power band is much wider.
Your Koni/Neuspeed Cup kit is awesome. It's firm & solid & feels great. Plus the drop looks so much better than stock.
Driving home on my tall skinny winter tires & stock suspension made it feel like I was driving on stilts.
Now I'm researching suspension systems!
We'll have to try a Calgary TSX GTG in the spring on a nice day.
Even a quick GTG at a Tim's Horton's is fun. Alway something to new learn.
...Joe
