Discussion about replicas and rebadging
Is the following scenario the same or not? The question for the poll will be posted at the bottom of this post.
1. Having an Acura TSX and rebadging the back to Honda Accord, but leaving the front Acura because of insufficient funds. Then later changing the front to Honda.
2. Having replica Volks and putting volk stickers on them because of insufficient funds, then getting real volks later.
Situation 1: it is all the same company
Situation 2: it is different companies
Discuss the morals behind it.
The scenarios are just overcomplicated examples of the basic underlying question which is:
Question: Is rebadging a car made by the same company (Honda/Acura, Toyota/Lexus, Nissan/Infiniti) equivalent to putting stickers onto a replica product (such as Volk Racing stickers on a replica Volk wheel)?

It isn't the same: Stickers on a replica is bad, and rebadging a car is fine (within reason)

I re-badged to just Honda symbols. It was because I think the big ol' chrome grill really makes the car have a bit of a gaudy feel to it.
The honeycomb with the H grill is much nicer IMO.
I do have a problem with people who trick out their lancers to look like an EVO-VIII, or people who get that little box that makes the BOV sound.
When you buy certain companies goods, theres an expectation of quality. That name quality is diminished when people re-brand things to brands they aren't. We have a particularly expensive hobby, sometimes we cant get all the parts we want. I wanted TE37's, I got Enkei's because they were within my budget.
Someone ages ago mentioned in general, a story about how they finally got to a TSX after struggling with cars using inferior parts for years. Its about pride in ownership of a quality product, not just a sticker.

I rather not have the parts untill I can get the full kit to go with it (like a full lip kit instead of just the front) or real parts instead of fake...Ive learned the hard way with that...

Rebadging is different than putting stickers on a product that it isn't. If you rebadge the back then do the front later on, although dumb looking imo, is fine. I would just save up and do it all at once. Placing the stickers of another company on a replica part is something I don't agree with. If you go replica, fine, but don't place stickers or markings on it claiming it to be something else.

ahhhh, yeah I get that too. except my friends bash honda and I'll bash whatever they drive benz/suby/lexus/etc but I don't have that much firepower. I only bash when they bash on honda or my car. :0

It's not the same because Acuras are made by Honda. Replicas are not made by the companies they are trying to imitate.

I said two.... but they're not the same. But both are bad IMO. Replica stickers are worse tho.

In my opinion, both are not my cup of tea, although it is worse to put a sticker on a knockoff that merely tries to resemble the real thing. I don't have so much of an issue of a replica itself, but to attempt to mislabel it as something else and mislead others to believe it is the real thing is just tacky.

Rebadging a car and putting stickers on replica parts are two different things. I don't find rebadging cars as a bad thing. In fact I find it that it can actually give other people more knowledge. I for one rebadged my tsx as an accord. People ask about it and I can tell them that it is sold to the rest of the world as an accord. Then it leads to other things. But as for my Si. I haven't rebadged it as a type r. Thats because it isn't a type r. I did put the red emblems to signify Honda's racing heritage. Now for putting stickers on replica parts. That is a complete no no. Its like calling michael jackson white.

When it comes to rebadging, I say leave it the way it is. In a way, you're going against Acura/Honda's plan when you rebadge from Acura -> Honda. From my knowledge, Honda made the Acura name as an effort to create a more refined luxury brand. If Acura/Honda wanted the TSX to be a honda, then they would have badged it that way.
Although there are many many similarities, I find that the TSX has a number of differences to the accord. Enough to make it a car with it's own model name. Even if you rebadge, at the end of the day, your TSX will still be a TSX and not a euro-r/type-s accord. Your TSX will look like something that it is not and by definition that would be "posing" or "mimicing" for a lack of a better word.
mind you these are my reasons that i haven't rebadged and by all means do it if you like it. everyone has their own views and perspectives so i say go for it if it makes you happy.
what i'm not okay with is to make a replica look like the real thing. that is something that would conflict with morality as it is passing a fake as real. you could even say that it is stealing and fraud seeing how the idea of the product in terms of design was not your own.
