  3. DIY: Change transmission filter (super easy!)

    1st Gen - Engine, ...
You're probably going to change out the fluid at the same time. Use a hand pump to blow some new fluid down the front filter hose to wash old fluid from the cooler and out of the system while the drain plug is off.
  4. Very Rough Vibration Idle

Awesome! So glad that was it! You're certainly welcome for the help. This thread needs to be pinned up top. Having seemingly unsolvable vibration problems is its own special kind of demoralizing hell.

The rear mount should be the fluid-filled type, the front mount should be vacuum-actuated. Cheap CV axles can also cause idling vibration and acceleration vibration problems.
  6. Some smoke coming out of exhaust after car is Fully warm

1st Gen - Problems and Fixes
Could be a stuck injector. Pull your plugs. If one is wet, this injector is stuck open or is for some reason not working properly.

Ideas: Running lean - could be fuel pressure regulator / fuel filter / fuel pump, dirty, bad injector(s), dirty MAF Are the belt tensioner markings within the nominal range? Yeah, remove the belt and see if that helps. Crank Angle Sensor. When you replace the rear and bottom mounts, make sure...

If the car's not shaking, they're working as designed, even though they're crazy soft. Dunno what's going on with these TSX's. Sounds nuts to still be vibrating after replacing all the mounts. Midnight Mechanic's is a real stumper because he's already replaced everything. All this...
  9. Very Rough Vibration Idle

    1st Gen - Engine, ...
Interesting. The ones I took off were the softest mounts I'd ever seen. Replacing the 3 main motor mounts and the under-battery mount with OE mounts wasn't enough to stop the shaking, though it lessened to just 'pretty bad' once the cheap rear one was replaced with the OE part. The...

I have an understanding with my local (not so local - 30 minutes away) dealership. I print out my cart from acurapartswarehouse including shipping and they charge me that plus tax. So that rear mount cost me $155USD. If they weren't doing that, I'd have sold the car last month. I don't let...

And... If those things don't work... And I hesitate to say this... If it were me, I'd replace any engine mounts I'd gotten off ebay with OE mounts that I knew for certain were filled with fluid. One of the mounts I recently replaced (rear engine mount) was a solid mount my mechanic installed...

What I would do: 1) Install the tranny mounts. 2) Clean your EGR passage: 3) Check your valve clearances. Valve adjustments are pretty easy. 4) Check fuel pressure. Fuel pressure regulator is in the tank with the fuel pump. (see attached photo on how it's checked) I wouldn't take it...
  13. Bad gas milage and a bit sluggish?

1st Gen - Problems and Fixes
Normally, OP's problems are indicative of a bad fuel pressure regulator. What is it called on a TSX?
  14. Sound coming from front side of the car

1st Gen - Problems and Fixes
So how did it turn out? Can't imagine what a springing sound could be. Did the shop replace your accessory belt tensioner or your timing chain tensioner? You don't have a timing belt. Not sure if it could have anything to do with your springing sound, but if you've never had your timing chain...

OP. maybe check your fuel pressure regulator, too.
  16. The (apparently) dreaded VSA

For some reason, you have to do the 'CLEAR ABS' steps even if the ABS light isn't showing. Glad you got it solved!
  17. Very Rough Vibration Idle

Well, I can tell you, my biggest problem to the eye was the blown mount beneath the battery, but it's these two buggers in the photo that were causing my vibration. They were marshmallow soft upon removal. I can literally squeeze their ends down with thumb and forefinger. One of the new...

I typed "rear wheel" in my long description. It should be "driver-side wheel".

Guess who just finished up replacing the motor mounts on his TSX in an attempt to remedy teeth chattering vibration in DRIVE at stop lights. Guess whose TSX is now idling smooth as silk in P/R/N/D/S. Hint: The answer is the same to both.
