  1. Weird buzz/chirping when on the gas pedal

1st Gen - Problems and Fixes
Keep in mind the pulley ratio from crank to alternator is usually about 3:1... I don't know the exact ratio without looking up diameters of the pulleys. So at idle... Let's say 800 at the crank, that means the alternator is turning 2400rpm or so. A blip of the throttle, say to 1000rpm, would put...
  2. Bad gas milage and a bit sluggish?

1st Gen - Problems and Fixes
The plugs look pretty good to me, these engines tend to the lean side, especially with ULEV and idle. Since the last thing the car did is idle, and your idle fueling is closer to spec, there is a possibility plugs won't show us what we want to see after some time idling. The "old school" method...
  3. Bad gas milage and a bit sluggish?

1st Gen - Problems and Fixes
STFT is at 0 during open loop, the system only operates during closed loop to maintain a stoich fuel mixture. At WOT that goes out the window as the ECU adds fuel to give you more power.
  4. Weird buzz/chirping when on the gas pedal

1st Gen - Problems and Fixes
If it happens while the car is not moving too have someone blip the throttle while you listen for noise under the hood. My first guess is something in the serpentine system. A pulley, bearing, tensioner or the belt itself.
  5. Weird buzz/chirping when on the gas pedal

1st Gen - Problems and Fixes
Where is the chirp? At the pedal? In the engine bay? Does it happen at idle too or only when moving?
  6. Bad gas milage and a bit sluggish?

1st Gen - Problems and Fixes
My LTFTs at highway cruising speeds ranges from 2.7-6.7, so yours is higher but not terribly so. Watching LT and ST the composite was generally around +11. Looking at your screenshot above your STFTs are consistently in the negative... Is that still the case? Go for a drive and watch your o2...
  7. So....how long can a TSX last?

1st Gen - General Car Topics
Unfortunately, there isn't. I fought this for a very long time myself and finally came across a set of used OEMs for a reasonable price. Right before I found a set of axles thou I learned you can buy the damper from the OEM axle for pretty cheap. I had planned to buy them and install on the...
  8. Bad gas milage and a bit sluggish?

1st Gen - Problems and Fixes
I haven't watched my fuel trims on this car before but those numbers don't sound too high... Maybe I'll watch mine and see what I get. Did you have the car aligned after changing wheel bearings? If the bearings were really bad, it may have had an effect on the alignment. Have you had your...
  9. Max mileage

2nd Gen - General Car Topics
Around here somewhere, and on YouTube, is a person who has logged well over 500k miles on a 1G TSX. He lists all services done as well, pretty interesting to see. I'm pretty sure it's a long distance DD thou. It all depends on how you drive it. My old engine got decommissioned due to burning...
  10. Rear deck 6x9s stopped working

1st Gen - Problems and Fixes
Yes they are bass speakers, no they do not have a separate amp. Did you recently change any speakers? When I changed mine I had speakers occasionally stop working intermittently for a week or so... But the problem fixed itself. I'm not exactly sure why but I'm guessing the amp was "disturbed"...
  11. Fastline Compliance bearings on a daily?

1st Gen - General Car Topics
Have you tried filling a new OEM compliance bushing with poly, like window weld? I did this with a set over 2.5years ago, I've got 52k hard driven miles on them and no issues yet.
  12. VSA and “!” Light on

1st Gen - Problems and Fixes
Cool... I was completely wrong! Glad you figure it out thou. Did you disconnect the battery to let everything reset after getting that wire back in place?
  13. VSA and “!” Light on

1st Gen - Problems and Fixes
P2647 Is for the VTC oil pressure switch on timing chain cover just below cylinder head, by right motor mount. It's function is to "agree" with the oil pressure change caused by the VTEC solenoid actuating. If it doesn't, no VTEC. I am 95% sure this is what your loose wire belongs to. Getting...
  14. VSA and “!” Light on

1st Gen - Problems and Fixes
It's a bit difficult to orient to the picture provided, but if TSXXXX is right and it's from the right rear part of the engine, the VTC solenoid, crank sensor, and one more sensor reside on that side of the block. I have forgotten to plug in the VTC before and gotten a CEL, but not VSA light. I...
  15. FS: part out of several parts.

    For Sale
Interested in the stiffy, maybe other stuff too. What is your location?
  16. How to Swap the Transmission WITHOUT Dropping the Subframe

    1st Gen - Engine, ...
@Nitroracer thanks for documenting your experience. I'm glad you found a way to get it done!
  17. BUILDING k24a2

    1st Gen - Engine, ...
Most have no issue running 7-8psi on stock internals. I'm another car forum I frequent a couple members have stock k24a2 swaps with turbos pushing 8psi, yielding 330whp or so. I don't have any firsthand experience with turbo builds so can't recommend beyond that.
