Getting ready to sell '04 TSX 6 speed 111K miles that will be needing a transmission - but don't know how much longer. Don't want to screw the buyer. How much for a used trans installed? Maybe adjust asking price accordingly? Car drives great other than occasionally grinding going into R and very infrequently going into 1st. 2nd owner @ 38K; all svc records since then. Paint good, interior good, new tires & batt, reg O/C, etc etc. (clutch fluid flushed end of May). Appreciate any thoughts - thank you in advance.

That sounds like either a clutch nearing the end of its life or maybe an issue with 1st gear synchro. Ever replaced the clutch? Where is the "bite" point on the clutch pedal right now? You might be able to adjust the CMC and reduce this issue.
When was trans fluid last changed?

Agreed, sounds like the clutch is on the way out.

If the clutch is grabbing right off the floor it's about toast. Definitely try adjusting the CMC rod where it attaches to the pedal. It could really help. That way you could sell the car as is with no huge issues, although I'd still warn the next owner the clutch is likely on the way out.

Used TSX 6speed trans go for $600-$800 but most are high miles and pry have synchro issues too. The Euro-R trans is a more appealing option. Usually $1,000-$1,200. Comes with shorter gearing, and an LSD. Usually have MUCH lower miles too.

Shop manual quotes 9 hours for a trans replacement. Around me that costs around $750, but it'll vary on the labor rates. Hope that helps.

Guys, thank you all for your interest & comments. Had it checked out by a local transmission specialist who confirmed what you've said - clutch needs replacement.
- Shandalo - grabs pretty close to the floor. Had the fluid changed the end of May.
- TSXXXXX - saw the CMC video adjustment, which would buy some time, but will leave that decision to the buyer.
- the Ras900 - thought it might be the trans because I'm not mechanically knowledgeable & automatically concluded any shift probs = transmission (big picture) v components (clutch).
Getting clutch replacement estimates to ballpark fair asking price.
