I have an 06 TSX that was totaled with only 80k miles. I went and bought an 05 with 230k miles and plan on swapping the 06 motor into the 05 body. I know they made slight upgrades to the engine in 06
Does anyone know if

1. I would have to also swap the ECU and key cylinder. I assume yes
2. the wiring harness from the 05 is the same and will just plug into the 06 motor

Any other input you guys have I’d appreciate

You should just be able to swap the engine in without the need for the ECU or anything else. The upgrades were made in 2007 so you should be fine.

The 2006-08 TSX K24 engines are superior to the 2004-05 TSX K24 engines but, in your case, you are just trying to get the car running and driving.

If I recall, the only issue you might run into when swapping a 2006 TSX engine into a 2005 TSX is the throttle body difference.
The 2004-05 TSX throttle body is different than the 2006-08 TSX throttle body. I can't recall if the connector is different or the mounting flange.
You may have to swap the 2005 intake manifold and TB onto the 2006 engine.
The 2006+ TSX intake manifold is slightly larger and flows more than the 2005 intake manifold.

No ECU changes are necessary but if you are after more power, a 2007-08 ECU swap with FlashPro would be the ideal option.

Thanks a lot for the info. I’m working on it Thursday I’ll see if I can compare the manifolds to see the differences.

I’m not an expert at this stuff I haven’t really done anything like this but I really liked my TSX and wasn’t ready to give up on it.

I’m just looking to get it running (and running well.) Not looking for power.
