1st GEN. RADIO CODE NOT WORKING WITH NAVI

Ok I’ve spent two days on this. I see that you can disconnect the radio antenna and then enter the code and it works. BUT I’ve only seen instructions on this with the base and not the Nav. How do you get the the antenna cable with the nav unit and not the base? I have the center console taken out as I was just doing a lot of work and finally got the car back so someone please help.
