Hi Everyone,

I'm planning on buying a 2005 TSX 6-speed with 80,000miles or 130,000kms for $11,000. (no accidents)

I have few questions with regards to it:

- Is it worth buying for $11,000?

- Should there be any upcoming repairs that I should be aware of?

- Any pointers or things to look for when test driving the car and other things to watch out for in general with 2005 model?

Any inputs would be greatly appreciated.

Where are you buying it and how's the condition and what does it come with. It seems like pretty low KM's so not bad. Only thing I'd check is probably if there's any rust, the clutch, and water pump. Not sure what else.

Its a private sale and the lady driven and in decent condition. I don't think the clutch and water pump has been changed, but no rust though.

I think the price is a bit on the high side if it's a private party purchase (should be about $10,000) In 2006, Acura introduced a bunch of upgrades to the TSX. It's worth spending a little bit more for the '06+ if you can swing it.

Agree, a few months ago a paid 13 for my 05 with 40k on it from a dealer, as much as i love the 6 speed navi etc I wish i had the 06+. But don't get me wrong if the car is right do it! And private is always OBO, so money talks when you pull out $100 bills

Check to see if there are records of the 60k mile service being completed. It is mainly a complete change of all the fluids if I'm not mistaken.

Depending on how it's driven, clutch replacement shouldn't need to be done until 100k+, so you should be good. Some common issues I've seen are the clutch pedal squeak, a/c compressor going out (more common on the '04, but I've had to replace mine), water pump. As with buying any other used car, check maintenance records, and have an experienced mechanic look give it a thorough inspection.

I have a 2005 TSX manual transmission as well. You should check the engine out. The 2004 model burns a lot of oil. Mine burns a lot of oil too. I have to put in a quart of oil in between oil change. According to my research, not all 2005 burn oil. There is still a good chance that the one you are looking at is fine. Just have to pay attention to it.

Other common problem is the automatic door locks (actuators). It goes on the passenger side first followed by the driver side. Other than this, all is good. Minor problem. It is not expensive to fix.

I am not sure how you can check the clutch out. If it feel alright, it is fine.

The price seems to be on the high side. I paid this much 2 years ago with the same mileage. But, it might also base on where you are located.
