Hi all,

Just wondering what changes (aside from lighted steering controls and power adjust pass seat) are different from the 04 to 05 models? Has anyone with an 05 had any of the reliability issues discussed in the 04 models (e.g., seat moves, electrical gremlins, prematurely wearing seats and clutch). In know the TSX is a pretty reliable car but I want to know what small issues there are. Thanks in advance.

You forgot, XM Radio built in! I was a non-believer before, but XM is very nice. Radio stations suck in San Diego except for KPBS Talk Radio.

I don't think anything else changed.

Oh yeah, thanks!

As an aside......I'm getting kinda bummed out by what I am hearing from some folks about their TSX's and their problems. By what I have heard from every new source, the car seems amazing. I love mine so far. Would you guys say that on a whole, the car is all you wanted it to be? :sadwavey:

Bere in mind this is a concentrated Acura TSX site so you will hear more here than in general. I have worked in the automotive industry for a few years (training and special events for GM) and believe me, although it may be a little annoying to have a rattle in your door or have an outlet not working, it pales in comparison to other vehicles.
GM has even released cars knowing they will be recalled, so has Dodge, Ford, Nissan, even BMW. The E46 had a major recall on the engine bearings, they were failing left and right, currently BMW is replacing all engine bearings....how is that for comfort? Don't forget the old 4.0 liter with Nikasil sleeves and too much sulfur in US fuels.

Here are the recalls for the TSX http://www.tsxclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3748

Excellent choice the TSX, don't worry ;)

Thanks TodaSi, I used to go on clubsi all the time when I had my 2000 EBP Si. Everyone complained about the clutch burning up and all sorts of other probs but I just drove it and never had any problems. Everytime I get in the car it reminds me of why I bought it. (Now i need to break it in so I can begin to drive it!) rrrrrrrrr6

Heated mirrors....????? Nice! I didn't even know I had those. Thanks. Next time my hands get cold, I'll stick them out there and warm them up : ) LOL

I must admit, there are few things about the TSX I don't like but there is nothing out there in that price range that offers as much.

Here is a list of my gripes.

The car needs a little more torque. 0-60 should be under 7.5 seconds. Right now, no one really knows what the TSX will do. I've heard 7.5 to 9.1 seconds. I have tried, and it feels about as quick to 60 as my old Rabbit GTI. I'm not impressed. I thought it would be close to my old 93 Sentra SE-R, but that car would have beaten the TSX too. The drive by wire throttle, I don't like too much just yet. It has a rough idle sometimes, especially with AC on. If you lay into the throttle hard and shift, the engine will suddenly hesitate a bit during the upshift, then surge. I think it's the DBW throttle causing that. The car has a few rattles and the clutch has a slight chatter/non-linear engagement. The steering is too light for the autobahn. At high speed, it's nervous and hard to keep tracking straight. It needs more center weight. The radio is OK sounding, not great. Too much chrome, especially the grill. Acura warranty...they think they only make perfect cars so anything that happens to your car, was obviously abuse by the owner...ie clutch, brakes etc. They don't warranty the clutch. If I would have known that, I would not have bought the car on that alone.

Here is what I like.
Looks. Very nice car. Twin exhaust pipes. The interior is sexy and not tacky like most cars. I don't like fake wood, so I got black interior. The XM Radio is nice as is the 6 disc changer with no cartridge. The 6 speed is the best I have ever felt. The shifter is perfect, world class. Oh yeah, did I mention it's a nice looking car? The sunroof is first class too. You can actually open it at any speed, get fresh air and hear the person next to you and the radio. Most sunroofs buffet and make too much noise at speed but the TSX is great in this dept.

My bottom line is, if you can afford the crazy maintenance costs of a BMW 3 series, get that instead. That is the real deal if you are a true enthusiast/driver. If you are like me with two kids, watching the bank account, the $6,000 savings on the TSX was worth it and I went with that. So far, despite the annoyances, I still really like the car but talk to me if my clutch dies in 5 months and some bozo tells me I abused the clutch. We'll talk then.

Amen! I'm just enjoying it for now. Gosh darn, this car looks good! The TSX is like dating a really hot girl...there are some annoyances but then you stop, look at her, and you forget about them and just say...hot damn, that is a good looking car.
