The car whines when I'm driving and the whine increases as I accelerate. My best analogy is that it sounds like a turbo charger that hasn't engaged. No deep throaty sound. Just high-pitched whinning. ANy ideas?
Jnag698, I'm having the same problem. I have a 2009 TSX with a whining noise that sounds like a turbocharger when accelerating/decelerating. After a little research my suspicion was that my Idler Pulley was going bad. Today I took it to the dealer and they confirmed that was in fact the problem. The dealer suggested replacing the idler pulley, tensioner assembly, and serpentine belt. They quoted $660 out the door. I did not have them do the work.
After doing a little more research on those parts it looks like I can buy those three items for about $100. I'm trying to find source to try to find how to do the work myself.
If anybody can provide instructions on replacing the idler pulley please let me know. Thanks.
