Has anyone yet done the 30k miles service on their TSX? Mine is coming up, and I was check for some online specials at different dealers. One of the specials is $360! I didn't know it would be this much. Can anyone comment on how much they paid or suggestions on how to get a cheaper price. I don't however want to go to some shady mechanic who won't use acura parts, and won't even change the fuel filters, air filters, and air cleaner element; along with fluid flushes/refills.

I paid $270 which include changing all fluids except tranny, in-cabin filters (2), and general inspection of suspension components & exhaust. No air cleaner filter since I have the K&N.

I just did mine except I haven't located an aftermaket ( aka cheaper )
cabin filter yet and haven't done that.

The 5AT really needs tranny fluid changed at 30K. Honda's are hell on fluids.
The plug is hard to find, it is 3/8 drive socket, need a big 3/8 ratchet
or breaker bar, it was tight. Need a new crush washer like on the oil plug
except it is a different size and washer.

Get a turkey baster and suck out everything from the front brake resevoir
section. Cover everything, brake fluid gets everywhere.
There was alot of sediment in there. Do not let this sediment get
into the rear resevoir, don't fill up until you get all this sediment out.
My brakes are getting flakey lately, this may be my problem.
Add a little more new fluid and suck out until you get all the sediment.

Then fill up and bleed brakes out until clean fluid is coming from each
caliper. There was sendiment in the calipers too. Honda's are hell
on fluids.

Some of the plastic pins on the bottom engine cover would not come
out without breaking, good thing I had 4 new ones on hand. These
need two screwdrivers to pry from two sides to avoid breakage.

It's looks like I'm only getting 40k out of EBC front pads and inside
of rotors have deep wear edge. Im am getting slotted zinc plated
rotors and try another pad type in the next 10k, maybe Hawk.
The EBC work for stopping but this is heavy wear on the rotors.

I have all the tools and what I don't have I'll buy. I just sold
a lot of 25 year old like new SAE Snap On stuff on Ebay for the
same I bought it. So I have no problem buying Snap On.

Then I bought some new metric stuff and other things for the car
with the money.
I love tools and it is never bad to buy them. Just one job pays
for the tool and then you have the tool for life.

My dealer charges $600 for the 30k service, that's a lot of new tools.
I'd rather have the tools and know the crap was cleaned out of the
brake resevior correctly.

By the way I also get a ton extra trade and resale for my cars which is
a big difference on what I get to buy next. That's the difference of
a maintained car. Nothing gets touched on my car without a torque
wrench.

I still have 40 year old craftsmen stuff and use it a lot so the snap on
is preserved, the stuff is like jewelery a shame to use it and scratch it.

Look at Ebay, there are beatiful Blackhawk brand metric wrenches
very resonable. I just got new flex head ratcheting wrenches over
1/2 off the Mac truck price. New Snap on goes for about 60-70% of new.
Used Snap On, if listed like new, goes for 40-50%, very reasonable on Ebay.

You really don't need that much if you know the right stuff you have
to have. I over do it cause I love tools.

I might put a list of necessary and sufficient tools you have to have
for the DIY. There's always a new job that requires the specialty tool
like a spring compressor for struts, I had to buy a oxygen sensor socket to
do the header. Have to think ahead about the job.

yea my friend is a mechanic for Lexus; he only buys snap on. $600 for 30k service, how come my dealer only charged me $208? Is there something that he should have done and didn't do?

My dealer is a ripoff. It's the neighborhood, bunch of spoiled
rich people here.
I have their list of what's done. Mostly inspection.
The major points are drain transmission, replace brake fluid, replace
cabin air filters, and of course oil.

I cleaned and regapped the spark plugs which was needed the gaps
were off, car idles better. They don't do that.

The spark plugs don't show any wear, they would go 100k.
The gaps were off.
Gap should be .044. One was low like .040". I set them at .043"

I had a little bit of white residue on the outer electrode. I have to
check the color charts what this means, maybe new heat range needed.

The car is idling smoother now. There is some talk about rough
idle in AT's, particularly with A/C on.
This helped mine quite a bit. My idle got rough after the header.
Dealer would not increase my idle speed , I thought it needed
50 RPm more to handle the A/C load.

Did the cabin filter. Definitely needed by 30k.

Advance Auto Parts can get them for $14. Purolator brand.
The Purolator instructions are wrong. A black plastic piece on each
side, has to be unsnapped from the glove box to lower the box. I did led
glove box light while I was in there.

They also have Trico wiper blade refils. There was no need
to change the whole blade for me.

Yea I replaced cabin filter, and air filter at 30k...don't ever replace wiper blades in SD.
