I was thinking about that yesterday. I read alot on this famoous 45 VTC.

But, if I do not want to run a damn K24 VTC wheel grinded to make it go from 25 to 45, can we just buy like a ajustable cam gear from skunk2 for example....

No, it would than be a static adjustment, and they only make the adjustable gear for the exhaust cam, not for the intake cam gear where the VTC gear is. You would lose alot of power.

Secondly you will need some form of ECU management to control the extra degrees of movement.

As a side note I would never use skunk2 parts inside my motor.

Yea you would need some sort of tuning tool to use the extra advancement. Also, nothing wrong with using Skunk2 parts.. more of a user preference.

Google skunk2 cam issues, skunk2 retainer issues, skunk2 tensioner issues, skunk2 cam chain slap etc.

They have pretty big issues when it comes to the valvetrain, Ill keep my parts with DragCartel, Prayoonto, supertech, and hybrid racing ;)

Those were with their first batches of parts which have been off the market. If you see, they have versions 2 and 3. I've seen hybrid racing tensioners go bad prematurely and my tuner have seen 3 go bad with the newer hybrid tensioners. Im running with skunk2 flat faced valves that are working great. Like I said.. user preference.

I have never had any issues with Skunk2 parts at all, but all my parts in my hatch are from Drag Cartel, he has the best customer service in the industry IMO

They are still having issues with many parts. From butterfly screws falling into the intake and getting sucked into the engine, or retainers breaking. They really arent a quality company, from day one they have made there money by copying there competitors parts using sub standard materials and selling them cheap to kids that have no idea what there buying.

Ive seen many parts fail even by very good companies, but good luck trying to get it replaced or any form of support. They dont back there products at all.

Tensioners are a funny game, it depends on your cams lift and overlap. Even OEMs will blow out with high lift stg 4 cams, but skunk2s failures are even on very low lift motors that arent pushing it that hard.

all issues aside, their products just work. this car here was running the skunk2 alpha header and skunk2 stage 2's version 3. it was using an oem tensioner. the car ran for months before it was wrecked. till this day, i have not tuned another k20a2/z1/z3 stock block that has made more power than this car.

my old civic si had the same cams and was running for over a year and a half before i parted it out. that motor was also running the stock tensioner.

as far as tensioners go, all of my customers cars run oem because it is what i recommend. i've had a hybrid tensioner break on one of my customers cars earlier this year. now those tensioners are on back order due to all the failures.
