I have a set of 04 TL wheels on my Honda element right now
i was "thinking" of putting them on the tsx but with the aspec suspension what size tires would i run?

Thanks in advance

The stock TL rims are 1 inch wider than the stock TSX rims. I'm not sure how much "extra" space there is with the stock tires, so you might get some wheel rub when turning.

Yeah, they fit fine, even lowered on Eibach Sportlines.....no rubbing.

There's a ton of space inside the wheels well, plus the offset on the TL wheel is 45, so basically you've got only 2.7mm of inboard increase over stock, and 22.7mm (almost an inch!) of outboard increase. The TSX A-Spec wheel is a 55 offset 7.5" wide wheel; it goes 6.35mm inboard over stock.......

Frankly, I don't think it looks good unless you're dropped.........

Actually, what you're referring to are the tires, not just the wheels. The TSX wheels are 17" X 7", while the TL wheels are 17" x 8", so the only difference is the 1" width. You can always put different profile tires on the wheels to adjust for any rubbing problems.

The stock TSX tires are 215/50/17, while the stock TL tires are 235/45/17.

The A-SPEC TL tires and wheels are 235/40/18 and 18" x 8.5", while the A-SPEC TSX tires and wheels are same size as stock (according to Acura's website).

Yes, it looks like the TSX A-SPEC wheel is half an inch wider than the stock TSX, but Acura's website indicates that the tire size is identical for stock and A-SPEC. That seems odd to me, as it doesn't make sense to put the same size tire on a wider rim.

In any case, back to the original topic...

The stock TL wheels are 17"x8", while the TSX A-SPEC wheels are 17"x7.5", so it would appear that there is enough clearance in the wheel wells.

At TireRack, they offer 17"x8" aftermarket wheels for the TSX. The recommended tire size is the stock 215/50/17 (stock TSX tire size), so it would appear that you should have no problems installing the TL wheels on the TSX. In addition, you can probably go with either the stock TSX tire size or the stock TL tire size (235/45/17) without any problems.

Like you said
the tire sizing for multiple widths did confuse me
I'll probably end up going with the 235/45/17 setup if i do decide the TL wheels are what i want to go with

i will photoshop it tonight and decide :grinno:

Thanks again for your time & assistance

Basically what it boils down to is pretty much anything "fits", ie no rubbing, the only question is how it looks on the car. Most aftermarket options and most oem options run a lower offset numerically, causing them to "stick out" a little. Lowering reduces this effect quite a bit.

  • Stock TSX 215/50/17 on 17 x 7 55et
  • A-Spec TSX 215/50/17 on 17 x 7.5 55et (orig spec'd at 225/45/17 before they nixed the tire upgrade)
  • Stock TL 235/45/17 on 17 x 8 45et
  • '04 A-Spec TL 235/40/18 on 18 x 8.5 45et
  • '05 A-Spec TL & 18" TL accessory wheels 235/40/18 on 18 x 8 45et

They'll all fit, but the 8.5 width really pushes the limit for "sticking out" for me. If you go with a 225 on the 8" wide rims, you get little or no rim protection, but the tires don't protrude excessively, and not at all when lowered.....

I'm running 245/45 17 Falken Azenis ST115 on some TL wheels. The look real meaty and are just a tad bit wider then the Turanza's that came on them. A 235/45 looks a bit strectched to me.

I would think that you'd want to go 245/40 to minimize the impact on the speedometer.

215/50/17 = 25.46"
245/45/17 = 25.68" +1% error
245/40/17 = 24.72" -3% error

235/45/17 is almost perfect at 25.33".........

Is there a typo in there somewhere? The last two sizes are the same, but the error is different.

with only an Aspec drop rubbing will not be an issue. If you go lower you might just stick with a 235/45 17 to be on the safe side. I plan on getting my Aspec suspension in June
