OK. So I've never had a car with "see-through" wheels before. Just what do I clean?

Things do get pretty dirty, but so far I've only soaped and rinsed the outer surface of the spokes(?) - and tried to avoid the visible brake mechanisms. The rear wheels look almost like they can be flossed clear through in some places.

Any tips are appreciated.

Thanks very much.

I use MEGUIARS Mirror Glaze Wheel Cleaner works great! all it takes is 3 steps hose the rims then spray it with the cleaner then hose again and its all gone. Brake dust ect.. you dont even need to scrub.

Hope this helps.

I got in the habit of doing that after seeing how nasty and grimy the rims on my gtp got after awhile. My wife even says that the rims on her SUV look so much better when clean.

The gtp was a torque monster, however it had a speed limiter on it (126 mph). No manual tranny. However it did have the heads up display. And with the sc, you could watch the gas gauge move if into the boost..

I would advise against using wheel cleaners because a majority of them have chemicals that can strip off the finish of the wheels and/or brake calipers, etc. -

Use good 'ol soap and water and a long-handled brush, and ever few months or so, take the entire wheel off to clean the inside.

MEGUIARS Mirror Glaze Wheel Cleaner

I know 4 people who use it including myself for the past year without a problem..

Friend uses it on his 19s chromes that he paid $4,500 for..

I think this is the best wheel cleaner..

As far as sope and water it is good and all but on cold days like these rather just spray something on and hose it off in few mins :D

Great point. I'm generalizing when I say wheel cleaners - I'm sure there are some out there on the market that are safe for clearcoated/finished wheels.

I just finished my sponsorship for the year w/ Meguiars - if they pick me up this year I will definitely be on the lookout for that cleaner!! :)
