Was wondering for people with the newer models using k&n reside in the carb states? Did you guys replace it with the stock or found another intake that had an EO number?

69-0026TS was the model i was going to buy but then the site made a mistake and the 2012 year was not exempt.

Contact k&n directly and I'm sure they'll be able to tell you. usually k&n stuff is CARB but i know on newer cars, they have to go through an approval process before the parts are officially CARB.

with that being said, with such a new car, you won't have to worry about smog for awhile and by then, the intake may become CARB and k&n should send you a sticker if you have proof of purchase. Unless you get really really unlucky, I highly doubt a cop will pull you over and ask you to pop the trunk and give you grief over an intake.

thanks! needed that type of answer aha.

btw, was hoping to get a catback but available for only 04-08, and there isnt much difference in the newer gen parts besides a mid muffler removed. do older models fit? some people told me it would not work at all.
No worrying about a cop pulling you over unless it makes such a loud noise that he pulls your over for that and asks to see under the hood to check for CARB cerfication. That happened to me with a Greddy exhaust on my old 90 Integra. He was wrong, but I couldn't provide any documentation at the time.

It's the visual smog inspection that might get you. The K/N system- Typhoon- for my 09 TSX is only legal for offroad use in California according to their website and hasn't been updated yet and it's now 4 years later, so I haven't purchased one yet. The smog stations don't want to lose their accreditation by letting a non-legal system pass visual inspection if it comes back to them, so you take your chances with going in without systems that don't have documentation or an obvious CARB number stamped on the parts that they can easily see.

It's not a big deal to swap out the intake and put the stock box back in when you go to smog the car, then reinstall the aftermarket intake afterwards.
