04-05 models don't come with a jack, so you have to resort to an adapter. There's an open port on the bottom of your CD changer (above the storage compartment) which you can plug a ten pin connector into, though, so you can run an AUX line through your console up into the armrest (obviously, I've done this, lol).
Check out LogJam Electronics. That's the brand I've got and it works splendidly.

Is it possible to wire in a factory unit to an 04 TSX non navi?

More specifically is there somewhere to tap into on the existing sound system and just run a cable to the center console compartment with an 06+ AUX jack?

Check this thread out.

The GROM unit and the USA spec are popular choices for AUX adapters, and they do more than your usual AUX cable, allowing you to use your steering wheel to pick music and adjust the volume. The GROM unit also has a bluetooth package since the 04-05 doesn't come with bluetooth.
On the prowl for another AUX unit following my wreck... This is tempting me since I've got a better job than when I got my first TSX...
