Yes or no?

I've bought a set of front and rear Brembo OE replacement and ferodo brake pads.

A Old Sir told me to do a slot in the middle of them since the new brake pads don't have.

Searching and found this

I guess I like seeing/knowing the slots are there but I don't think it is absolutely required. I have seen used brake pads with that slot filled with brake pad material from use. The way I see it, if a big company who are known for brakes (Brembo) didn't think it was required then you're ok.
