Several "million-candle" bulbs mounted in the trunk may do the trick. You could install an actuator that opens the trunk lid automatically when you put the car in reverse, and triggers the light at the same time. A gas-powered generator could be used to power the lights, and triggered at the same time as the trunk lid. Sure, you'll lose a teeny-tiny bit of storage space, but just think how much better you'll be able to see. In reverse. Won't do much to fix Larchmont's forward viewing problems.
