The only way I know to change to CDs is through the audio controls and/or Navi voice recognition system. Steering wheel control only allows track changes.

As for cold starts and warming it up, I heard the same. Best method I know is to start car, wait 10-30 seconds depending on severity of outside temperature and drive off slow and avoid hard acceleration for about the first 5 or 10 minutes.
