the compressor could be on its way out, and you do have an 04. Thats how my a/c started acting before it went out completely. If you like to DIY, the install wasn't that bad. replace the compressor and condensor with a new evaporator with proper pag oil procedure. PM me if you need the manual. there's a sticky on this btw if you go to the first gen problems and fixes section.

so yours did this exact same thing and it was a compressor issue?

how can that be so, because when the a/c is on but the clutch on compressor is not kicking on i take off the relay put it back in and then it kicks on and everything's fine
