I bought a second bike, and needed to get it 90 miles from the seller's house to mine. Riding it was an option, but a bad idea due to old tires. I installed a trailer hitch and wiring harness a couple months back but never needed to use it.
Lessons learned:
1. Mount the tow ball up-side down on the tongue/receiver so you don't scrape as much. I scraped the trailer about 5 times over the course of 90 miles.
2. Trailers are more stable when weighed down with a load.
3. The TSX is still great at accelerating with a trailer, but not so good at going up hill. It had to downshift into 3rd to maintain 60 on some of the hills in the bay.
What I don't understand is why Uhaul wouldn't let me rent the smaller, motorcycle trailer. The trailer itself is about 400lbs lighter. Any ideas on that?
