2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery first, then disconnect the positive cable.
3. Remove the drive belt.

5. Disconnect the alternator connector (A) and BLK wire (B) from the alternator.

6. Remove the three bolts securing the alternator, then remove the alternator.

Installation

2. Connect the alternator connector (A) and BLK wire (B) from the alternator.
3. Install the auto-tensioner.
4. Install the drive belt.

The illustrations make it appear "easy" to get access the lower bolts is a pain due to the limited area around it then to maneuver it out is rather tricky LOL

I did mine a few months ago

Ugh. I'm dreading having to replace the alternator and my starter in the future....

Remove the lower bolts BEFORE the top one, as the top one will hold the alternator steady while you're doing hand-yoga removing the lower ones.
Also, very important (for your sanity) to do the top one up FIRST when reinstalling. Not tight, but snug enough to hold bolt holes in alignment.

Just replaced my alternator today. The OEM let go after 104k. Thanks for the write up!

Few things I found to make the replacement easier.

1) Lower 2 bolts are such a PITA to access. Do yourself a favor and invest in every extension and deep/shallow sockets for 1/4 and 3/8 drive.

2) disconnect the breather hose and remove the nipple that's above the alternator for enough clearance to remove. I also had to break off of one the external plastic ribs on the electric fan that's closest to the alternator for more clearance--- it won't hurt anything on the fan. (can always epoxy it back on)

3) It's a good time to also replace the serpentine belt. Mine was quite perished.
