Since I've passed my 1k post mark I figured I'd write a DIY on something I haven't seen on the forum.

Originally I had bought Vinyl covers my for my tail lights but the install was hard and I messed them up. But I liked the general look so I decided to remove the covers and spray them.
(The following pictures are the vinyl covers. The spray looks a LOT better)

First step is removing the bumper:
1) Remove a philips screw on the inner wheel well of the rear bumper
2) Remove another philips screw on the corner of the wheel well and rear bumper.
*Note: there is another star hex screw near this one but does not need to be removed (it is for a metal support brace).
3) Remove two grommits located in the center of the rear bumper.
4) There are two covers that hide the last two bolts. You have to top open the trunk and they are sitting in the corners.
5) Pull the sides out and then pull the bumper outward

Next we have to remove the outside tail lights:
1) There are three small bolts (I think 8mm or around that size) that you must unbolt from the inside of the trunk
2) There are two 10mm bolts that you must unscrew from the front of the tail lights (which is why you must remove the bumper)
3) Carefully pull them out.

(obviously, circles indicate where bolts are placed)

Last we have to remove the inside tail lights:
1) There are three small bolts you must remove from the inside of the trunk.
2) There is another 10mm bolt you must remove that is also from the inside of the trunk.

I found a DIY on smoking here: http://www.350z-tech.com/zwiki/Tutorial:Smoking_Taillights
I didn't tint the clear reverse circles on my tail lights. I'll post more pictures when I can. I think they look really good.

Yeah its permanent. Might be able to get it off with paint thiner if I needed but I don't think I'll ever want to. I'll post pics when I get around to it. But it looks good and since I didn't tint the clears(chrome ring is still visible too), it doesn't look completely after market.

You actually don't have to remove the bumper you can get away loosening it then having to refit it back on.

People noted that when i installed my jdm tails.
Hmm I don't quite see how you could do that. The bolts for the outside tail lights are behind the rear bumper. Do you mean you don't have to remove the rear bumper completely? You don't need to remove the bumper to get to the inside tail lights.
