I have an 04 TSX auto, and I had been having problems with the battery draining overnight, where it would be hard to start in the cold Utah mornings. I decided to switch out the battery for an Interstate Megatron, and it continued to be drained, and this morning my car won't even turn over even after having someone jump off the battery. I was thinking it could be the starter, any ideas? I appreciate any advice.

I had the same issued couple weeks ago. Car kept dying then all of a sudden one day it just didn't start. It turned to be the starter. I got a rebuild one from Advance Auto parts for $130 with core. Cheapest place I found it. Swapping it out was a pain in the a**! The starter is under the oem headers. Had to remove some hoses, intake, and oem header

Starter is under the Intake Manifold. Two bolts hold it on and with the right tools you might be able to get to it with out having to take the manifold off.

Header is in the back, unless you have the brand new tsx.

My bad. Intake manifold*. You may be able to get the bolts out but good luck trying to get the actual starter out. There is a bracket behind the manifold that was a bitch to get too.

Probably the starter. Turn on the lights. If the light intensity is fine then the starter is the culprit.
Honda has redesigned this starter. The plate assembly that holds the brushes is a culprit and the brushes seem to overheat and prematurely wear out. Slow cranking and sounding like the battery is on it's last legs are usually the common signs. This slow cranking was evident from day one. Notice the signs of heat and slight melting on the assembly where the 2 brushes are totally worn out.

Just did another 05. Removing the intake manifold will save you a lot of time and frustration.

Got ripped off up here in Canada to the tune of $254 for a $102 part made in China that I had to pickup from the warehouse. Almost 150% mark up. Pointed this out to my now former supplier who just smiled and claimed that shipping made a mistake on his invoice which, according to him, I should never have been allowed to see in the first place.

It cranks strongly now and all is well.
The brush/plate assembly is about $60 if you can get it.
