Hi Guys,

I've been reading this forum for sometime. I've put together a list of parts that I want to purchase for my European Type-S. However, I've went to order some stuff like exhaust today to one of the most respected Honda tuners in Moscow. However, I was disappointed. Guys told me that since Euro versions of Accord are Euro 4 compliant there is a difference between Euro model motor and TSX (spesifically engine management system). So, installing exhaust from TSX without ECU modifications will actually lead to decrease in torque and HP. They expect to have Euro kits for motor in Spring. I suppose they are talking about Mugen.
Can someone share opinions on this? Especially guys from UK or Germany. I guess that Japan's specification is different.
By the way, I was offered very interesting mod - shortened gear ratios for 6MT tranny. They say TSX has 4.7, euro Accord has 4.1, they proposed 5.2 made by ATS (Japan).
What do you guys think?

Granted I am not Noel, but I'm gonna throw in my two cents anyways. I'm sure he'll walk all over it if I am wrong. :D

With the many different model Accords available, some aftermarket upgrades may not prodcue as much hp. I believe, could be worng, that there are 2 different 2.4l engines available for the Accord with different hp output based on the level of sedan. Then you got to also throw into the mix that the CL7 exists, and many Japanese companies will target the car capable of the most hp.
Like any aftermarket parts, without the proper tuning, you could buy a part and actually lose hp and torque. Additonally, while one car may gain from an specific intake and exhaust, that same car may lose power with the same intake and different exhaust. A lot of it comes back to tuning, and until there are ECUs avaiable to retune, it makes it hard to find the right components.
Your best bet is to probably wait till the spring and see what is available for your specific model and go from there.
One mod you could probably go for right now for a gain is an intake. That will get you a little bit more power while you wait, and no extra tuning will be necessary.

Your Type S will be our CL9 across the world, the power output is identical or at least inline with the AU CL9. What exhaust do you have in mind?

While a larger geared final drive will also lead to a lower top speed for stronger acceleration across all gears. I wouldn't recommend changing the final drive unless you know exactly what you're trying to achieve in terms of acceleration vs top speed sacrifice.

Noel,

the idea is to achieve better street performance. I'm from Moscow and I drive 95% in Moscow. Outside roads are so bad you can hardly drive 180-200km/h on them.
Guy tell me that top speed will not be suffered much.
I was thing of a complete comptech exhaust incl. headers, I liked Legalis R as well.
I was thinking of it once over and I think something is wrong, cause if you change exhaust you have got be sure that you change catalyst as well and keep OEM oxygen sensor which is the main feedback for ECU. In this case, does it matters for ECU?

only jap has euroR

btw .. if u got the cate back exhuast and header .. ~
u dont really need to change the catalyst .. ~

Final drive will affect top speed depending on how "big" the gearing ratio is, make no mistake about that. But if you don't intend to see the car past 180KM/H, you'd be happy with a larger final gear in general.

And all catback exhausts won't affect the factory catalytic converter and emissions setup. The Legalis R is a catback exhaust system, it will not affect how the ECU works.

i'm not 100% sure on the extended code but from what i know

K24a comes in:
2__power 147kw[200ps]/6800rpm tourqe 232Nm[23.7kgm]/4500rpm (TSX & JDM Accord)
3__power 140kw[190ps]/6800rpm tourqe 228Nm[23.2kgm]/4500rpm (EDM Accord Type-S)
1__power 118kw[160ps]/5500rpm tourqe 216Nm[22.0kgm]/4500rpm (USDM Accord)
and the JDM accord wagon has all 3 engine choices!

thou i'm not 100% sure which one is 1,2, or 3...

gear ratio I believe is
1/2.651
2/1.516
3/1.081
4/0.772
5/0.566
X/2.000

I think you have the K24A1 correct. My 2005 CR-V also has the same engine with 160 HP.
