When putting on an aftermarket exhuast, is it better to take off the exhuast heatshield under the car to eliminate any possibility of rattling? Just not sure to just leave it there or take it off. :donno:
No, it's meant to be there regardless of what exhaust system is in place. If you buy an exhaust system or custom make one that will have contact with the heat shield ... You can bend the heat shield around or slightly so contact will not be made.
However, should a specific exhaust be design for this car have a contact problem with the heat shield. I wouldn't buy it in the first place, just goes to show there's no attention to detail and design. From my experience, all well constructed systems are perfect bolt-ons with no problems whatsoever during the lifetime of use.
