This board has been redesigned by Honda. The only part that has changed is the circuit for the back lighting. I have a board from 06 and it has Much beefier resistors and a cooling pad mounted in this area. They seem to know of this problem.

I de-soldered the transistor that blew and took one from the 06 board and soldered it in. Everything works fine now. :) I would like to say that im the man lol

First off...tousche sir you are an innovator! The dealership has decided to deny my request to fix this problem due to my "aftermarket audio parts".... bullshit, so I would like to do this myself as well. Any ideas on the specs for this transistor since I don't have access to another board? I have done extensive work with circuit boards over the years so I feel this could be a quick fix if I could get the correct part. Any info you have is helpful! Thanks man.

Just post all the numbers on the actual transistor. Unless it's some proprietary Honda or Alpine part, the numbers on it will define it & will allow others to buy it.

In fact you should pick up a couple too. One to fix the '06 board & 1 to keep in case the transistor blows again.

Nice work! Thanks for posting all the details & pictures.

My acura dealership said it would be $125 and thats after getting the core reimbursement back, costing $225 before the core is returned! Which dealership are you referring to, I would order one from them, haha. But if we can get specs on the transistor I would prefer to spend the $5 to fix the problem, not replace the board.

Not that your thinking this far ahead...but if you do a part out I would buy your audio PCB. Maybe you could recover even more money on top of insurance by parting out?

i'm amazed that the offending pcb is only $80 or so from the dealership. it looks pretty easy to install at home if one can't get it done under warranty. anyone with audio problems from cd or radio should also look at replacing this board for a solution. :)
