From what I have read the RM is for the warranty one, and requires a core. The Cp one is just the board, no core charge involved. Thats what I gather anyways. I will wait for someone else to chime in though.
this is the response i got from a dealer....

--------------------------------------------------------

Hello. What is the difference in these two part numbers? I need a Printed Circuit Board for my 2004 non navi TSX.

3917A-SEC-A01CP $87.89
3917A-SEC-A01RM $66.60
-------------------------------------------------------

The one ending in CP stands for customer pay and is the one you want to order. The other is for warranty use only.

Thanks,

Tyler

Tyler is correct. I'm glad to see there is a relatively inexpensive solution to get this defect fixed.

To put the entire substandard radio issue into perspective, I'm friends with the previous owner of my TSX and the board was already replaced four years ago under warranty.

The car is out of warranty now, but I went round and round with Acura corporate for 2 months saying that the replacement board should have lasted more than 4 years, but they denied the request because the LCDs were still working with the control lights out and the dealer told them it wasn't the board.

This week, all the LCDs (clock, radio and HVAC) started flickering and I took it back to the dealer. They backed me up and went to Acura Corporate saying that it's definitely the board. I received a loaner car and the final result was $190 out of pocket, including tax and labor.

I'm happy that Acura/Honda eventually did the right thing by acknowledging that it was the board. It looks like I'm still paying the cost of the board and labor, but it's more than a lot of other companies would do with a car out of warranty.

Hello all, I have an 04 TSX with NAV. My board has some burnt resistors on it but I cannot get the value of them so I can replace. The three in question are on the top of the board in the corner that shows signs of overheating. They are labled R760, R761, and R762. If anyone has an old board laying around that can read the values of these components for me I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you all!!

NAV PCB board was still available as of 4/2018. That may be an option for you as well.

The non-Nav PCB part has been discontinued for some time.
DISCONTINUED ** CIRCUIT BOARD, PRINTED CP
Part Number: 3917A-SEC-A01CP Fits: Acura: TSX SEDAN

The Nav PCB part was still available as of 04/2018, at Delray.
Circuit Board, Printed - Acura (3917A-SEC-A51CP)
and it does not yet say discontinued.

Any idea if the Nav PCB will work in a non-Nav car? Dealer sent me one by mistake.
Came up with a better plan. In addition to dim console lights, my CD player had failed, and my aftermarket bluetooth was on the fritz.

Had the local audio shop install this (Metra 99-7809B). Replaces A/C console and provides a large hole for an aftermarket stereo. I went for a touchscreen pioneer, which takes care of my bluetooth as well.

I was a bit concerned about quality compared to OEM, but fit and finish looks great and the A/C panel functions all work, so I'll take it. About $850 out the door.

That metra in dash is such cringe. Looks like its made for a power wheels car
It also gets poor reviews since those HVAC controls are not reliable. I considered that for a first gen TSX but gave up. The only other solution is some no-name brand chinesium Android head unit from AliExpress that includes the climate controls in the touchscreen. So in other words, when it fails (and since it has no enforceable warranty), you're out the hundreds of dollars it costs.
