Hi guys, I have a 08 TSX.

I would consider myself a novice when it comes to engine tuning. I am planning on getting a flashpro because there is no reflash for the 08 tsx which i wouldve preferred for my uses. I currently only have a CAI and a catback exhaust.

I was wondering what kind of calibrations come with the flashpro that I could use to start off and what they'd do to the car (ie. vtec point, throttle response etc) or if i would have to do a custom tune to get some results with my current set up.

Please let me know. It would help a lot. Thanks ! :D

Just got a FlashPro, but I don't know which calibration that comes with the FlashPro is equivalent to Reflash.

I tried the one highlighted here:

However, when I data logged my car I saw a huge amount of knocks (was at 10 then went up to 37) during one of my WOT runs on highway. See attachment pic.

Is this a cause of concern running this calibration? I've gone back to stock calibration and going to try to log again to see if I get the same issues.

The one you have selected is tuned for 04-05 TSX. You're better off using the third basemap but you should really get a proper tune

Yes, a proper tune will be best. However, I only have minor mods like intake and light-weight crank pulley. Was hoping to just do reflash calibration with FlashPro.

Based on Hondata's response, the one I selected is very close to the reflash:
Hondata ? View topic - flashpro basemap calibration

It is based off of an 04-05 TSX, but with an 07 ECU. I wish they did a calibration for a 06-08 TSX which is a reflash equivalent.

That's what the third calibration is for. It's tuned specifically for 06-08 k24a2 with CAI and stock everything else. The second calibration is tuned for 04-05 k24a2 which is what i'm running right now until I get my supercharger installed and tuned.

I have a CT-icebox, so I don't know if it will work well with a calibration for an Injen CAI. Based on the dynos from Heeltoeauto for these two intakes, they are a bit different below 3000 RPM, which is the rev range you drive in day-to-day.

I guess even with minor mods, I should get an etune.

Id go with the third tune, different intake but at least it accounts for one.

Well it's better than using the base map for 04-05 engine that has different cams. The third basemap will be fine, just not optimal but it will still be an improvement over stock.

If you plan on getting any more bolt-ons or engine mods, then I would wait until you have most of it installed before getting a tune

Base maps are just maps to get you started. I would hit up Vit Viper for you're etune. He is one of the best out there.

^ That's what I plan on doing, just not sure when. I plan on sticking with the current CT-icebox and pulley mod for another 1-2yrs before doing anymore bolt-ons. That's why I was hoping for a "reflash" like calibration until I get an etune 1-2yrs down the road.

I just data logged with the "07-08 stock equivalent" (option #1) for an hour long drive. Definitely less knock counts; from 37 down to 12.

I'm going to do the "return ECU to stock" option in FlashPro Manager and then datalog. See if I get even less pings. If so, I guess I'll stick with the "return ECU to stock" option until I get all my mods and do an etune.

What kind of fuel are you using?
I believe the 94 Octane Chevron Premium fuel is available in the lower mainland.
Perhaps try that, or the Husky 94 octane if either are available.

The "2007-08 stock equivalent" and the "return to stock" options are identical firmwares.

The trouble is I fill up at Canadian and US gas stations. Canadian I get 94, but US only goes up to 91-92. Will mixing the two gases together cause knock using these base calibrations? I wish they'd mention which gas they use for these tunes.

Not according to this post on Hondata forums:

Not sure why you would rather choose the stock base map over the third tune since it's pretty much similar to the reflash option.
I will probably try that 3rd tune later and see what the knock count is.

I've done this for the #1, #2 and Return to Stock options now.

The Return to Stock option doesn't seem to register knock count correctly as I get like 38,000+ count. It does seem like there is some knock retard, so I assume knock still happens? Is that a right assumption to make?

Maybe trying data logging on Canada gas only so the car/ecu can get used to it? If that doesn't help then you know its not the gas causing problems.

I just tried with 1/2 tank of 94 octane using the 06-08 TSX Injen calibration (3rd tune from list) and I have zero knocks now. Just wanted to report this to those who may be interested to know.

I will see if I get knock once I get some US 91-92 Octane gas with my current 1/4 tank of 94 Octane. I'm wondering if this is the cause of my original knocking.
