Fog lights or no Fog lights

3890 Views 19 Replies 13 Participants Last post by  BDI
I'm ordering my TSX this week probably on Thursday but I can't decide if I want to get the fog lights. what does everyone think of them I have always loved foglights I had them on my celica and I have missed having them on the durango because the lights on the durango don't light the road up very well. But is there really a need on the TSX with the HID's I assume that lights the road up pretty well plus they are the projection beam head lights and I know those really help

hey, were you ever on newcelica.org? i have a celica too.

regarding your question, fog lights are not really functional. at best its 90% looks and 10% function.

however, it does make the tsx look damn good though.
I didn't get them. But now I wish I did. I guess the grass is always greener.
Actually, if you want the JDM front, you may want to not get the OEM. I personally would opt for such....maybe ;)
I'm 50-50.

2 cents worth:

I normally love the way fog lights look but the TSX is the only exception. It looks really aggressive with the black scoopy looking covers down there. With fog lights, it looks like a Pontiac GTO or Grand Am.... generic etc. I also, totally agree with the previous guy. They really aren't that functional unless you live out in the country. If anything, I hate guys driving around with them on when there's no fog, blinding me. Normally, Yes, but the TSX looks better without them in my opinion. Same thing with the body kit. I would always take the body kit, except the TSX body kit doesn't really fit the car that well for my taste. I'm hoping someone makes a classy looking body kit for the car too.

Good luck.

Yes I was on newcelica.org same Screen name infact i'm still on there from time to time but it's all kinda gotten old now I got on there around a year after it started so I'm kinda bored with it now.

Thanks for the opinions everyone I do agree they are more looks then anything else I have always liked the looks of fog lights on most any car. i'm ordering the car on thursday so i'll let everyone know what I end up doing.
I like my fog lights. They're kinda useless in the city and work great when I'm driving around in the boonies. But I think they look great on the car...
Looks good and despite what some say they are usefull even with the HIDs.
I don't have them. I think that they do serve a purpose, however we really don't get that much fog in northern texas....
i'm thinking i'm going to get the fogs I miss having them and even though I probably won't get much use out of them for the times that I will need them i'll be glad I got them.
I voted against them. I have them and question their true utility. They add some light directly in front of the car and to the sides, which is useful in areas without streetlights (such as the PA mountains around here). BUT I just discovered that another damn lens is cracked, and they ain't cheap to repair.

I'd love to know how anyone can be blinded by fog lights.. unless s/he's got his/her head directly in front of the car and is staring right at them. Their beams are directed away from other cars, nowhere near another driver's eyes.
I wouldn't have them added to the car at the dealer. You can get them for much cheaper elsewhere(ebay) and they are fairly easy to install. I haven't bought a set for mine yet, but did get them for my wife's 2004 Accord. I really don't need them but love the way they look.
I ended up getting them they weren't much extra and i'm not worried about them cracking or anything like that honda will take care of that.
fog lights

I really think the TSX looks better with fog lights and that these should be standard equipment. Being dealer installed the cost is almost prohibitive.
I just got mine today, 460 installed. I think they look great!
They're $279.50 free shipping, from Hondacuraworld.com, and I installed them myself. It's a Honda, and since many Honda service people are fools, installation was designed by Honda to be pretty much foolproof.

We get a lot of fog at the shore, here, and that's why I got 'em. But I rarely use 'em on the Acura. Never, in fact. In the universe of fog lights, these things are, to use the larch-ese word I just learned: "verkakte".

So no, I wouldn't bother. I have fogs that work on a couple of Eurocars. I didn't bother with installing fogs on either of the two Oddys.
Is it true that if you buy from hondaacuraworld.com or any other site you dont get a warrenty on the fogs?
Get the fogs from hondacuraworld and install them yourself. They are worth it. Just make sure you protect the lenses with sometype of film coz they are very prone to crack.
1.) Unless you somehow manage to mess up the installation (the instructions are very detailed), how would a service department know that an accessory wasn't on the car when it was delivered?

2.) The fog lights consist of a couple of light bulbs, wires, a switch and a relay. What's there to warranty? This is Thomas Alva Edison's 1879 technology. If anything happens odds are 99.9% it going to be a light smashed by a rock which isn't covered anyway. Honda parts have an official 1 year warranty against defects.

I don't think the Acura fogs work very well in the fog so I wouldn't get them again, but I'll agree that they look better than the black plastic grills. It'll be a cold day in Hell before I pay someone $200 to put in a couple of light bulbs.

:werd: I have 3000K HID fog conversion and they are great. They put out the same amount(3200Lumens) as the headlights except yellow.
