And they like it a lot.

They've NOTHING bad to say about the car, but note the following, "....Another...40 horsepower would really show off the chassis's capabilities."

They also wish for sticky set of summer (versus "all weather") tires.

Nice car. I many very well buy one once HP tops the 230 mark.:D

It is nice to see you finally post a somewhat positive comment about TSX!! I think we all can agree that a few more HP would be nice, but to hear you say you might just buy one was a shock. Is that Car & Driver article on the web? Is this issue on news stands already?

I've ALWAYS said that it's a very nice car in need of an equally nice engine (and a limited slip diff).

You'll have to buy the magazine to get the article.

They ran 0 -60 in 7.2 and the 1/4 mile in 15.6 @ 91. (Some of the faster, "everyday" pickup trucks will run with that.)

60 - 100 MPH requires 11.8 seconds. 100 to 120 MPH requires 16 seconds. That, my friend, is pretty slow.

Stopping distances are nothing to write home about, either.

100-120 mph in 16 seconds? OMG, this is like honda civic. Why is it that slow?
Why is that slow?

Gee, lets see what the Neon SRT-4 does it in:

http://members.cox.net/harddrivin1le/SRT4NEON.JPG

6.2 seconds

Hmmmmmm

The Neon runs 0 - 120 MPH in 20 seconds flat. Guess how long the TSX requires to accomplish that same feet (per the same magazine).

34 seconds.

Relative to a $19,995 Dodge Neon rated @ 215 HP, the TSX is a SLOW car. And the Neon gets 30 MPG highway with a 5 speed; 1 mpg MORE than what the TSX gets with a 6 speed!

Yeah, Dodge neon SRT4 would totally destroy TSX. But TSX will outlast SRT4 though.

I just explained to you why 100 - 120 MPH is SLOW.

Why are you attempting to cloud that issue?

How many miles do YOU plan on keeping your TSX?

regardless of how many miles i keep it... (tho.. in my family cars get driven till they die... 16 year old cuzin is STILL driving my 89 accord ;) ) I would still want a car that holds it's value.. and accords and acuras for sure do that.. that way should i sell it when i get bored... i still am not at a total loss

But only modestly quick above 80 MPH and it's only rated @ 29 MPG highway....

There are many 1989 model year cars still on the road, ranging from Fords to Mercedes and everything in between.

Wasn't Honda recommending valve adjustments every 30K miles and cam belts every 60K miles back then? I know people who spent more than $1,200 just on "routine" belt/valve lash adjustments labor for those cars. Most American cars use(d) timing CHAINS and hydraulic lifters and therefore didn't require those expensive services.

Anyone who's likely to spend ~ $27K on a car is also likely to get rid of it after 5-6 years. And no new car is a good investment.

Personally, I couldn't bring myself to drop $27K on a "performance-luxury sedan" while knowing that a 4 cylinder/5 speed, ~ $16,500 Nissan Altima could run right with me.

You know, I don't think they were downshifting when they were going from 80-100 or from 100-120. Whereas in an auto, it would have probably downshifted for you. I can tell you for a fact that it only took about 4 seconds to go from 80-100 when I downshifted to 4th...I did it last night as a matter of fact. I can see those numbers if they're staying in 6th though.

Oh, and no need to buy the mag just for one artcle...here it is.

Thanks for posting the scanned article

WIZ,

Thanks for posting the scanned article. I enjoyed reading it. I am waiting on the dealer to find an Arctic Blue 6speed and was glad to see the pictures of my choice in the article. The only bad thing was that it has made me even more impatient...I'm calling the dealer right now.

WHAT?!

That's the 100 - 120 MPH segment of the full standing start acceleration run!

0 - 120 MPH - 34 seconds

0 -100 MPH = 19 seconds

34 seconds - 19 seconds = 15 seconds

Get real!

The car is SLOW!

The SRT-4 Neon does the SAME thing in just 6.2 seconds!

And compare the 0 - 120 MPH times of those two cars!

Neon: 20.0 seconds

TSX: 34.0 seconds

It's not even CLOSE!

http://members.cox.net/harddrivin1le/SRT4NEON.JPG

BTW: You did NOT accelerate from 80 to 100 MPH in 4 seconds. If you think you did then you have NO IDEA how cars in general perform. (My 6 speed, LS1 Z28 is hard pressed to do that- in ANY gear!)

If nobody mentioned this before, July issue of Motor Trend has very good article comparing Acura TSX, Mercedes-Benz C230 Kompressor, and Saab 9-3 Arc. It is very good article.

What did MT get for acceleration times for those cars?
